How to Cook Southern Country Style Green Beans
Southern Country Style Green Beans
2 - 50 ounce cans green beans
bacon grease
2 cups chopped onion
salt and pepper
In a large pan bring green beans, the liquid in the cans, and two large spoons of bacon grease to a rolling boil. Salt and pepper the beans. Reduce heat to medium-low so that the green beans are just at a simmer. Allow the beans to cook for one hour.
Add the chopped onion and gently fold the onion into the green beans. Add a few more shakes of salt and pepper. Allow the beans to cook for another one to two hours, checking them approximately every 30 minutes. Once the liquid has almost completely evaporated, and the beans are starting to look shriveled, remove from the heat and either serve immediately or allow to cool and refrigerate for use later.

Bacon Green Beans - Green Bean with Bacon - Perfect Side Dish - The Hillbilly Kitchen
Bacon Green Beans - Green Bean with Bacon - Perfect Side Dish -This makes a delicious side dish with almost everything or can be the main course. This recipe is hundreds of years old and wasn't created in some fancy restaurant. It was most probable from a log cabin in the mountains.
I remember my Granny making this when I was growing up. It works with a fancy meal, at a potluck, church dinner, a big holiday spread or add some taters and in season veggies for summer dinner. This heirloom dish will add some delicious variety to your mealtime routine. It is not an ordinary side dish.
Remember to put God first!
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
