Simple and Quick Grilled Steak Kabobs with an easy home marinade
This week we cover Grilled Steak Kabobs!!! We marinated sirloin steak with simple in home ingredients and then grilled over high heat on our @webergrills. We then grilled some onion and bell peppers and served over white rice for a simple and quick dinner.
Grilled Steak Kabobs
• 1/4 Cup of Olive Oil
• 1/4 Cup of Soy Sauce
• 1 Tspn of Salt
• 1 Tspn of Black Pepper
• 1 Tspn of Onion Powder
• 1 Tspn of Garlic Powder
• 1/2 Tspn of Paprika
• 1/2 Tspn Dried Thyme
1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl with a container or ziplock bag
2. Cut Sirloin Steaks (or steaks of your choice) into 1-inch cubes. Trim off excess fat as necessary
3. Place sirloin steak cubes in bowl or bag and let marinate in fridge for at least an hour, or overnight if possible
4. When ready to grill, soak wooden skewers in water for at least 20 minutes, or prepare metal skewers by cleaning before use
5. Skewer sirloin cubes and keep close together as we are looking to char only the exterior and keeping the interior nice and juicy (we believe placing skewers of all meet allows for even cooking – same goes for vegetables or whatever you choose to cook on skewers)
6. Start your grill and lay out coals to a level surface. Close your grill lid and heat to 400 degrees, as we are looking to grill over high heat and sear the meat. This is still technically a steak
7. Once heated, clean grill grates with ¼ of an onion, the top of the onion you normally discard works perfect. Use with long fork or tongs to brush your grill grates
8. When ready to grill; place skewers of sirloin parallel to each other and place on direct heat
9. Grill for 5-8 minutes and then flip. You are looking to grill on high direct heat to create grill marks and also a great crust texture
10. After the first 5-8 minutes, turn over and grill for another 5-8 minutes. You are looking for great color but we are not looking to cook the meat to well done
11. Flip the steak and continue to turn every 5 minutes until desired temperature is reached. We are looking for 130-140 degrees for medium rare.
12. Allow sirloin steak kabobs to rest for 8-10 minutes before you begin serve. Once skewers have cooled, you can pull cubes of meat off, or serve to guests directly on skewers
13. Grill your choice of vegetables by adding them to separate skewers or in a grill pan. This method allows for easier set up and prep work.
14. Enjoy!!!
