Easy Homemade Eggnog Recipe | The Best Eggnog I've Ever Tasted
Eggnog was never a drink I enjoyed growing up, but I have come to love it every year around the holidays. It's super simple and this recipe takes not even 30 minutes to complete. I promise, you haven't had good eggnog until you've tried this recipe.

Ingredients:
Whole Milk
Regular or Heavy Cream
Cinnamon (ground)
Nutmeg (ground)
Cloves
Vanilla Bean or Vanilla Extract *Remember vanilla beans are expensive
Egg yolks (6)
Alcohol of your choice: Rum, Whiskey, or Bourbon. Get creative!
Optional: If you prefer to not use egg whites for topping, its fine to use whipped cream instead.
P.S. Don't forget to treat your eggnog well by having snacks with it like I did.

Virginian-Pilot article on George Washington's eggnog recipe (actually his lack thereof):
***EGGNOG RECIPE, MAKES ABOUT A QUART/LITER***
1 cup (237mL) cream
1 cup (237mL) additional cream or milk
1/2 cup (100g) sugar
2 eggs
1 cup (237mL) rum
1/2 cup (118mL) whiskey
nutmeg for garnish
Whip the first cup of cream in a small bowl. In a big bowl, beat the eggs and slowly drizzle in the alcohol until incorporated — don't stop mixing, or the eggs will curdle. It's important to mix the alcohol directly into the eggs to kill bacteria. Mix in the sugar, un-whipped cream or milk and the whipped cream until smooth.
Transfer the eggnog to a vessel that will allow gas to escape and chill in the refrigerator for about three weeks — aging will kill bacteria and enhance the flavor. The mixture will separate a bit as it sits, so stir it back up before pouring into glasses. Sprinkle nutmeg over top, if you're into that.
Eggnog National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation | How to Drink
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite Christmas Movies and today I'm making Clark Griswold's Egg Nog. It's good, it's good, it's good good it's good.
Christmas Vacation came out in 1989 and was the third film in National Lamoon's Vacation series. The second was of course the European Vacation and nobody liked that. Happily Christmas Vacation was hilarious and made everyone love the series again ( I Think it was the return of Cousin Eddy but what do I know?) It's now a Christmas Classic and a movie shown in most houses around the holidays, and it's got Egg Nog in it, served in moose mugs (and later just aggressively scooped from the bowl in tiny cups). I love egg nog but if you've never had home made egg nog, maybe you don't? If you've never had it made from scratch frankly you've never had egg nog. This recipe bears almost no resemblance to the stuff you get in the carton at the gas station. It's not a heavy thick syrup, it's a light and airy and boozey drink and it's really just perfect this time of year.
