1 cup sugar 4 each cinnamon sticks 3 each lemon slices 1/2 cup water
PUNCH MIXTURE:
2 cup pineapple juice 2 cup orange juice 6 cup dry red wine 1/2 cup lemon juice 1 cup dry sherry 2 each lemons, sliced
Directions: Boil the syrup mixture for 5 minutes and strain. Discard the cinnamon sticks and the lemon slices. Heat, but no not boil the punch ingredients. Combine with the syrup mixture, garnish with the lemon slices, and serve hot.

How to make a Rittenhouse Wassail Punch: Try something different at your next cocktail party with a Rittenhouse Wassail punch. Originally a variation of mulled wine, roasted apples, curdled cream and cloves. Today, the mixture is lighter and fruitier, but packs just as much of a punch.
INGREDIENTS: - 30 mL / 1 oz Glenmorangie whisky per drink - 12 whole cloves - 6 whole allspice berries - ½ fresh ginger root, peeled and sliced - 3 cinnamon sticks - 12 whole white peppercorns - 1 gallon fresh apple cider - 180 mL / 6 oz cranberry juice - ¾ cup light brown sugar
GARNISH: - Grated nutmeg
METHOD: 1. Add cloves, allspice, ginger, cinnamon sticks, and peppercorns to a large pot. 2. Add the cider, cranberry juice, and brown sugar. 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. 4. Add the Glenmorangie whisky to a glass mug and top up with the heated mixture. 5. Garnish with grated nutmeg.
