How To make Swedish Chocolate Cake
1 c Shortening
1 1/2 c Sugar
3 Eggs
2 oz Baking chocolate
-(unsweetened), melted 2 c Cake flour
2 t Baking powder
1 t Salt
1/4 t Baking soda
1 c Cream, heavy
2 t Vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Butter a Bundt pan and sprinkle with about 2 T dry bread crumbs, until it is well-coated. This makes a much better
crust than flour does. In a large bowl, add the sugar to the shortening and cream well. Blend in the eggs, one at a time, and beat well. Stir in the melted chocolate. Sift together the dry ingredients. Combine the cream and vanilla extract. Add to the chocolate mixture alternately with the dry ingredients, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 50-60 minutes. Cool the cake in the pan a few minutes before removing. NOTES: * A rich chocolate Bundt cake -- I got this recipe from my mom, who got it from an American book called Swedish Baking. I like to make this because it does not need to be frosted, which makes it an easy dessert. Yield: one Bundt cake. * This is not an authentic Swedish recipe because their flour is different enough to cause problems in baking. However, the results seem authentic. : Difficulty: easy to moderate. : Time: 20 minutes preparation, 1 hour baking. : Precision: measure carefully. : Kate Hedstrom : UC San Diego : San Diego,Ca : sdcsvax!sdcc12!np42cb : Copyright (C) 1986 USENET Community Trust

Kladdkaka, or Swedish gooey chocolate cake, is a relatively recent addition to Swedish cake culture, according to Magnus Nilsson's The Nordic Baking Book. It requires just five ingredients and 20 minutes to make, so we'll be making it all winter long. SUBSCRIBE TO FOOD52 ►►

2 Year Old Makes Fast Easy Chocolate Cake: Swedish Kladdkaka: Susie's Cooking Show Episode 14
Please like and subscribe. New episodes every Tuesday! Check out @SusiesCookingShow on instagram for outtakes and bloopers.
Today 2 Year Old Susie is making a super easy chocolate cake. This is a great recipe for kids because there are about 6 ingredients, and you just dump it in and stir it up! If you've seen Susie's other episodes, you know she can't resist eating batter. We chose to put the eggs in last so Susie could sample the batter before baking.
The Kladdkaka is a traditional Swedish chocolate cake, which doesn't require any frosting, another plus if you are baking with kids! I don't know much more about the Kladdkaka, so maybe our Swedish fans can enlighten us on your experience making this delicious desert!
Recipe:
1/2 cup melted butter
1 1/3 cups sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon vanilla
Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes. It's going to seem like it's not done yet, but if you are used to making traditional cake, take it out earlier than you think because this cake is meant to be gooey in the middle.
I'm sure there is a method to mixing the ingredients, but we just tossed them in and cooked it since Susie is 2 and, lets face it, she's going to eat it all anyway! It turned out great!
I recommend using a spring form pan and baking paper, we only had a regular cake pan and it stuck a little bit where Susie scraped the bottom of the pan with the spatula.
Check out Cutezeeludesigns.com to get your own custom apron and matching hat, or visit the etsy shop: and use the coupon code Susie for 20% off your order.
Additionally, if Susie is near hot things we try as best as possible to keep her in her kids sized oven mitts. They are under $10 and you should consider getting some for your kids if they are working with you in the kitchen.
