How To make Spanish Beans(Habichuelas Guisadas)
2 c Water
1 Small potato, diced
1 Chicken broth cube
1 pn Salt
1 1/2 ts Garlic powder
1 pn Black pepper
2 tb Sofrito
1 pk Sazon
3 tb Tomato sauce
1 cn Pinto beans
Place all ingredients in medium saucepan and boil until the potatoes are tender and cooked, about 20 minutes. Serve over white rice. Bob Reyes NVNF69A

If there's one Puerto Rican dish you have to try, it's my mom's habichuelas guisadas (stewed beans). Made with sofrito, sazon and lots of love, these hearty beans are the definition of comfort when served over a bed of warm rice.

Boricua Style Habichuelas Guisadas Frescas (Stewed beans from Scratch)
Hi and welcome back! Today I made habichuelas guisadas frescas estilo Puerto Rico, or stewed beans from scratch, Puerto Rican style. You start with dry beans. They taste amazing!
Here are the ingredients:
1 package(12 oz) dried pink beans(any except black beans)
1 green bell pepper, roughly chopped.
3 or 4 stems of cilantro
1/2 cup of pumpkin (calabaza)
1/2 cup sofrito You can watch me make sofrito here:
1/4 cup olives with pimento
3-4 cloves of garlic ( I said two in the video, but they were really big)
1/2 cup smoked ham, cut in cubes
2 cans of tomato sauce(8 oz each)
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon of homemade sazon or 1 packet of Sazon Goya or Knorr

Dominican red beans are also a must whenever you're having rice and meat. Today I'm showing you how to make Dominican Beans from scratch! The old school way that our grandmas and aunties make them. There's so many different ways of making it and they're all delicious! They're just as delicious as making them my quick and easy way as well. Thanks for watching! Buen provecho.
Ingredients:
16oz Raw Pinto Beans (1 Bag)
¼ - ½ lb of Kabocha, pumpkin, or butternut squash
1 small red onion
¼ Green Bell Pepper
3 tbs Tomato Paste
4-6 Garlic Cloves
¼ cup Recao & 2-3 Sprigs Fresh Thyme
1 ½ tbs Sopita/Chicken Bouillon Cube or to taste
½ tsp Dominican Orégano
⅛ tsp White Vinegar
¼ tsp Light Brown Sugar
4 cups Water to Pressure Cook
6 cups Water for Stovetop Cooking
