1939 Sour Cream Cookies - Old Cookbook Show - Home Ec Spice Cookies Recipe
1939 Sour Cream Cookies - Old Cook Book Show
This cookie recipe is from the Home Economics textbook used in Spokane Washington in 1939. They were a good cookie, but needed a lot more sour cream than the recipe called for. This is a light spice cookies recipe on the old cookbook show.
Sour Cream Cookies
2 ¼ c. sifted flour (I did sift)
3 t. baking powder
½ t. soda
¼ t. salt
½ c. shortening
⅔ c. packed brown sugar
1 egg beaten
½ c. heavy sour cream (recipe needed at least ½ cup extra)
½ t. cinnamon
¼ t. nutmeg
½ c. raisins
Method:
Sift flour once, measure add baking powder, soda, salt and sift together. Cream butter and add sugar gradually creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour, alternately with sour cream, beating after each addition until smooth. Drop from teaspoon on ungreased baking sheet and bake in a hot oven, 8-10 minutes.
Aunt Eileen's Sour Cream Cake:
***I know that in the video it sounds like I didn't sift the flour before measuring - But I did. In older recipes like this that ask you to sift, then measure; sifting is important to get the right measurement. Recipes that ask you to measure, then sift; I hardly ever sift.

Easy CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE Recipe | Crisp Outside, Soft & Chewy Inside
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
✔️Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter(softened) [115 grams]
1/2 cup brown sugar [100 grams]
1/2 cup white sugar [100 grams]
1 whole egg (large) [60 grams]
1 & 1/4 cups all purpose flour [168 grams]
1 tbsp cornstarch [8 grams]
1/2 tsp baking soda [0.7 gram]
1/4 tsp salt [1.5 gram]
1 cup chocolate chips [150 grams]
????
1. Cornstarch helps the cookie to have its soft & chewy interior. You may skip this if preferred.
2. Skip the salt if using salted butter.
3. Butter is softened.
4. Chilling the dough helps the cookie to hold its shape when baked.
5. The recipe yields 18 pieces. (approx. 40-45 grams each when baked)
Bake in a preheated oven @ 170 C or 350 F for 14-16 mins.
⁉️Baking temp. & time may vary on the type of oven. Alter accordingly.
I used conventional oven with bottom heat only.

Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies - Recipe from back of Dixie Crystals sugar bag
This classic, old-fashioned sugar cookies recipe is PERFECTION. Often, the best recipes come from the backs of the products we buy in the grocery store. This sugar cookie recipe is one of those and I've been using it for years.
It couldn't be more simple and you likely already have the ingredients in your kitchen right now.
INGREDIENTS
• 1 cup butter, very soft
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 1 large egg
• 2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (loosely measured, do not pack as it will result in too much flour)
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350º.
2. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients and beat well until dough forms. Do not over mix.
4. Scoop dough onto parchment-lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle with decorative sugar or sprinkles before baking, if desired.
5. Bake until edges are very light golden, about 10 minutes, then cool on a wire rack.
Enjoy!
