Homemade Black Bean Soup or Sopa de Frijoles
Black bean soup is a stable in my house. This recipe is vegan but you can substitute the water for beef or chicken stock if you like. Growing up in El Salvador my mom would make this soup at least once a week. The aroma filled the home and we all looked forward to a delicious hot bowl of soup. This soup can also be made with small red beans or even white beans. If you use white beans, add some paprika to give a little bit of color to the soup. The leftover beans can be smashed and made into fried beans. I hope you enjoy this simple but delightful recipe. Please give my video a like and subscribe to my channel so we can continue cooking together. Thank you!

Black Beans Soup - Sopa de Frijoles Negro
There are many versions of Black Beans Sup and almost each country in Latin America and Caribbeans has own. All are hearty, delicious and packed with flavors. there are vegan and non vegan options of this soup. Cuban version (Sopa de Frijoles Negro) contains meat usually ham bone; ham or smoked hocks. This gives soup another layer of flavor. Smokiness of meat plus soffritto - onions, bell peppers, garlic, celery and culantro and mix of aromatic spices gives this soup unforgetable flavor. I enhanced the original recipe by adding Salsa Lizano staple of Costa Rican cuisine. My favorite soup.
