How To make Sauerkraut Casserole
1 lb Italian sausage, mild
-cut into 1-inch slices 1 Onion, lg. -chopped
2 Apples; peeled and quartered
1 cn Sauerkraut, 27oz; undrained
1 c -water
1/2 c Brown sugar; packed
2 ts Caraway seed
In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender; drain. Stir in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seed. Transfer to a 2-1/2 quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 350F for 1 hour. Garnish with snipped parsley if desired. SMOKED SAUSAGE & SAUERKRAUT | Oldie, but Goodie | SUPER EASY RECIPE!
Today I'm going to share with you how to make old fashioned Sauerkraut and Smoked Sausage (weenies) So, grab all of your items and cook along with me. RECIPE BELOW
▶︎ SHOP MY FAVORITE PRODUCTS:
Ingredients you'll need:
• 1 14oz Package of Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage Rope
• 2 14.5oz cans of Del Monte Sauerkraut - I used 1 1/2 cans for this recipe
• 2 - 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
Instructions:
• Add 2 - 3 tablespoons of olive oil to your frying pan
• Preheat pan with oil while slicing sausage
• Remove sausage from packaging
• Slice sausage into 1/2 - 1 inch thick slices
• Add sausage slices to preheated frying pan
• Brown sausage slices to your desired preference
• Once sausage is fully browned, add your 1 1/2 cans of sauerkraut to the frying pan | Do not remove grease before adding sauerkraut - Drain any water that may be in your cans before adding to pan
• Heat sausage & sauerkraut until thoroughly heated and sauerkraut absorbs all grease from pan

Sauerkraut and Smoked Sausage with Potatoes & Apples
Sauerkraut had never been one of my favorite dishes growing up. But as I have gotten older, I have come to like and appreciate the benefits of it. Especially when making my own and having all those probiotics to help with gut health. I put this dish together for New Years day and it turned out very good. I know it won't be an only New Years day dish. This one will go into my menu of dishes to make quite often. Let me know what y'all think of my version. Have a great day.

Ingredients:
1 package of smoked sausage
Olive oil
1 tablespoon butter
1 onion cut in 1/2 inch moons
2 apples sliced about 1 inch thick
2-3 red potatoes (can use russet if you want)
1 quart Sauerkraut
1 cup apple juice
1/4 cup brown sugar
salt/pepper to taste
Put the olive oil in medium high heated pan.
Slice sausage in 1/2 - 1 inch thick pieces and place in oil to brown.
Remove from pan and set aside.
Add the onions to the pan and brown 2-3 minutes
Now add the apples and potatoes and cook for a couple minutes
Add the sour kraut apple juice and brown sugar. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes covered.
Uncover and nestle the sausages into the kraut.
Cook uncovered an additional 20 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed and the potatoes are tender.
Salt and pepper to taste.

INGREDIENTS:
●1 lb mild Italian sausage (pork can be used instead)
●1 large onion
●2 apples
●1 (27 ounce) can sauerkraut (or jar)
●1 cup water
●1/2 cup brown sugar
●2 teaspoons caraway seeds (if the kraut has the caraway seeds don't add)
German Sauerkraut Recipe with Bacon
This is how most Germans actually eat sauerkraut: by braising it and topping it with bacon. This will make it less sour and a great side for your favorite sausages, pork knuckle, or other meat dishes.
