How to make Welsh Cakes | Bakestones | St David's Day treat | Dairy Free Pice bach
Ah, Welsh cakes. A taste from home and a treat that I make every year for March 1st to commemorate St David's Day. I am originally from Wales and love to make Welsh cakes throughout the year and thought I would share this easy dairy free recipe with you.
Welsh cakes are also known as pice bach and are usually baked either on a griddle or bakestone. They are so delicious when they are fresh off the griddle and dusted with sugar. I also often leave out the raisins, cut them in half and spread jam on them. You seriously need to try them.
The full recipe and a little bit more about Wales can be found on my website:
Ingredients:
225 g self-raising flour
Pinch of salt
100g unsalted dairy free butter
50g sugar
50g raisins (you can also use currants or any other dried fruit)
1 egg
2 tbsp plant-based milk

A genuine cookery show with a novel cyberpunk twist, set in a retro futuristic world where technology and tradition unite, where Holograms, Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence are the norm. Oh... Did I mention that it has a kick-arse synthwave soundtrack?
In this episode we learn to bake Welsh Cakes (aka griddle scones or bakestones).
The AI system will show the recipe in full at the end of the show.

Everything else is all done by me :)
This is my family's recipe, handed down to me and my brother... When making these, it transports me back to lovely childhood memories... I still remember my dad making them when I was a kid, the sweet familiar smell swirling round the kitchen always made me feel hungry, they didn't last long :) Give it a go, they are delicious
I'm inspired by many things, but this idea was spawned after watching another excellent video by the great Peter McKinnon it was the creative use of camera movemments and thinking ahead how each shot can line up. This fellow human's other videos have helped me learn the software I needed to create the graphics. It's amazing what you can learn in 2 months of lockdown.
Did you try the recipe, how did they turn out?
What recipe should get the retro futuristic twist next?
Feel free to let me know in the comments
Many Thanks and Enjoy
