HOW TO MAKE BACON PENNE PASTA WITH SUNDRIED TOMATO
Serve up our Bacon Sundried Penne Pasta for a flavorful entrée at tonight's dinner.
S02E01: Penne Pasta with Sun-dried Tomatoes
Penne is an extruded type of pasta with cylinder-shaped pieces, their ends cut at a bias. Penne is the plural form of the Italian penna (meaning feather but pen as well), deriving from Latin penna (meaning feather or quill), and is a cognate of the English word pen.
Sun-dried tomatoes are ripe tomatoes that lose most of their water content after spending a majority of their drying time in the sun. These tomatoes are usually pre-treated with sulfur dioxide or salt before being placed in the sun in order to improve colour and appearance.
Ingredients:
500 grams of Penne Pasta
500 grams of Del Monte Creamy & Cheese Spaghetti Sauce
5-6 cloves of minced garlic
1 bulb of red onion finely chopped
1 red bell pepper finely chopped
250 grams of ground pork
3 pieces of sausage (thinly sliced)
5 pieces of sun-dried tomatoes
1 tbsp of unsalted butter
Parmesan cheese for topping
Salt and black pepper for seasoning
How to Cook:
1. Boil pasta in water for about 10-15 minutes until it becomes al dente. Add salt taste. (After boiling, drain pasta and save 1 cup of pasta water). Set aside.
2. Using the same pot, sauté ground pork until it releases its oil. Add garlic, onion and bell pepper. Add salt and black pepper for seasoning. Cook until pork turn slightly brown.
3. Add butter, sausage and sun-dried tomatoes. Sauté until sausage is fully cooked.
4. Deglaze the pot using the pasta water and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
5. Continue layering the sauce by adding the spaghetti sauce. Let it cook for about 5 minutes.
6. Turn off the stove and add the cooked pasta back in the pot and mix everything well.
7. Top with parmesan cheese.
Enjoy! ????
