Sweet & Sour Sausage Meatballs Recipe ~ Noreen's Kitchen
Greetings! Those of you who are subscribed to my weekly newsletter may recognize this recipe for sweet and sour sausage meatballs. I published this last week and could not wait to share it with you.
The original recipe is for one pound of meat. Today I am demonstrating a double batch. I am using one pound of a locally made breakfast sausage as well as one pound of ground pork. Some seasonings go in as well as bread crumb and some eggs, onion and milk. The real secret here is in the sauce that makes this dish complete.
Sweet and tangy with just the right amount of spice. These meatballs are going to be great as a main dish served like I did over some egg noodles and with some steamed veggies. You could easily serve this with rice, mashed potatoes or even stuff these inside of a baked potato or into a sub sandwich. You can also forego all those things and just serve this along with some toothpicks for easy grabbing for your next tailgater or appetizer buffet or party.
No matter how you serve these you are going to watch them disappear because they are going to be a real crowd pleaser!
I hope you give these sweet and sour a try and I hope you love them!
Happy Eating!

Tasty Meatball with Marinara Sauce Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 1.5 lb of ground turkey
- 2 medium sized tomatoes
- 1/2 white onion (or yellow onion)
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1 egg white
- 1 large jar (2 lb) of marinara sauce
- Fresh Basil
- Olive Oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Dried Red Pepper (optional)
- Italian Seasoning (or Oregano)
Instructions:
1. Dice tomatoes into small pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
2. Use half the onion and chop into small pieces. Set aside in a bowl.
3. Finely chop the garlic cloves. Set aside in a bowl.
4. In a separate bowl, separate the egg white from the egg yolk.
5. Add egg white to the ground turkey. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and red pepper. Mix all together.
6. Roll 2 big tbsp portions of the turkey meat into a ball and lay on parchment paper or foil.
7. Heat the pan at medium high, add oil then the onions and garlic. Make sure not to burn!
8. You can either take out the onions and garlic or push them to the side in the pan and add the meatballs in the pan without touching each other.
9. Cook on each side for about 5-6 minutes. It's okay if it's still a little pink since the meatballs will be simmering in the sauce for 25-30 minutes until fully cooked and tender.
10. Then add the diced tomatoes, marinara sauce, more Italian seasoning and black pepper to your liking.
11. Simmer on low heat for 25-30 minutes.
12. Add the fresh basil. You can leave them whole or roughly chop them to garnish on top.
13. Ready to serve and enjoy!
