How To make Maple Baked Beans~
500 Grams Dried Cannellini Beans
Soaked Overnight
1 Ham Knuckle :
Soaked Overnight
2 Sprigs Thyme
1 Large Sprig Rosemary
1 Bay Leaf
1 Large Onion Chopped
4 Cloves Garlic :
Sliced
4 Strips Lemon Zest
150 Milliliters Maple Syrup
1 Tablespoon Tabasco Or Other Chilli Sauce Or More ???
1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
Salt And Pepper Topping: 3 To 4 Eating Apples, Cored :
Cut Into Eighths
30 Grams Butter Softened
50 Milliliters Rum :
Optional
Soak the beans overnight in plenty of water, then drain. Put into a pan and cover with fresh water. Boil hard for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and simmer until tender - about 45 to 60 minutes.Drain, reserving cooking water.
Put half the beans, together with half the onion and garlic, into a large, oven proof casserole. Add herbs, tied together with a piece of string. Bury two of the strips of lemon zest in the beans. Lay the ham knuckle on top, then cover with remaining beans, onions, garlic and lemon zest. Mix syrup, Tabasco and mustard and pour over. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then pour over just enough of the reserved cooking water to cover. Cover the casserole tightly and bake at 150F, 300 C, gas mark 2 for 3 hours. Arrange the apple pieces decoratively over the beans. You may not need them all. If there is rather too much liquid left in the dish, scoop a little more out so that the apples can perch more comfortably. Dot with butter and return to the oven for an hour. If using rum, pour it over the top just before serving.

Maple Baked Beans
These maple baked beans turned out amazing!!! Everyone loved them and wanted to know how I made them. Of course I told them they had to wait for the video to come out. LOL ???? Really though, they turned out much better then I expected, but it took some adjusting to get them just right.
I will fully admit, I think I forgot 1 ingredient when I made the first batch of sauce that went on the beans. I forgot to add water to the sauce, but that's ok, because I added some at the end and the sauce just gave the beans an even stronger maple taste.
The changes I made to the recipe were these.
A. I double the recipe and forgot to add water to the sauce.
B. I made a second double batch of the sauce + 1 cup of hot water
C. I didn't add the full amounts of salt and pepper in the second double batch of sauce.
D. I slow cooked them for 12 hours on low and then 6 hour on high.
Here is the link to the recipe I used:
This is one of those recipes I will be trying again. My husband loved them and I know he will want me to make them again for any parties we go to through the winter.

Maple Bacon Pressure Cooker Baked Beans Recipe ~ Noreen's Kitchen
Greetings! Well the day is upon us! Independence day is here and with it my last installment in our week long celebration of videos providing you with ideas and inspiration for celebrations all summer long and beyond!
Today I thought it would be nice to share a recipe for the electric pressure cooker! Baked beans have never been easier! I used dry beans and water and all the seasonings that we love in baked beans and cooked them up in the pressure cooker. This did take a little over an hour and I did end up tweaking the mixture to suit our taste for the baked beans we love best. You may end up doing the same! These turned out lovely and they were delicious.
The trick here is to make sure you don't have too much acid and no salt whatsoever in your vessel or your beans are just not going to cook and as I said in the video they will just be little nuggets of ick.
When these were done and the sauce was up to our liking, the were just not thick enough and this is the nature of anything cooked under pressure. Just like in the slow cooker, you just can't seem to get a nice thick sauce fast. So a bit of water and organic corn starch slurry to the rescue and these beans were awesome!
I hope, if you have an electric pressure cooker you will get it down from it's dusty shelf and give it a go with these beans. This recipe makes a lot, so you can feel free to reduce the recipe if you like. This will make three quarts of beans in the end. I stored my leftovers in a big two quart jar in the fridge and plan on having them tonight with our pressure cooker ribs that we have on our fourth of July menu!
I hope you give these beans a try and I hope you love them!
Happy Eating and Happy Independence Day!

Maple Bacon Baked Beans | The Recipe Rebel
PRINTABLE RECIPE & NUTRITION INFO:
Ingredients
▢6 cups canned white beans (1150 grams or 3 540ml cans) (or 1 lb dried beans -- see note*)
▢1 small onion (finely diced)
▢1 cup water
▢1 can tomato paste 156 ml (½ cup)
▢½ cup pure maple syrup
▢¼ cup apple cider vinegar
▢¼ cup molasses
▢2 tablespoons corn starch
▢2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
▢2 teaspoons minced garlic
▢1 ½ teaspoons salt
▢1 teaspoon ground mustard
▢⅛ teaspoon black pepper
▢1-2 pinches red pepper flakes optional
▢4 strips thick cut bacon, chopped
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Drain beans and rinse well (*note below includes method for using dried beans). Place in the baking dish with the onion.
In a large bowl, whisk together the water, tomato paste, maple syrup, vinegar, molasses, corn starch, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, mustard, pepper and pepper flakes.
Pour sauce over beans and stir to combine. Lay the bacon pieces on top of the beans.
Bake for 30-45 minutes, until bacon is cooked through and sauce is thickened and bubbly. You can cover with foil for the first portion of the cook time to prevent splatter if desired, but I recommend uncovering to help crisp the bacon for the last 15-20 minutes.
