Hearty Turkey Chili (with a surprising ingredient)- with yoyomax12
I found this recipe on the back of the label of my ground turkey (Maple Leaf Prime) packet! It makes a nice hearty chili with lots of flavour.
Kid friendly mild chuckwagon chili:
1 lb extra lean ground turkey
1 tbsp olive oil
1 onion chopped
3 cloves of garlic minced
1 tbsp Chili powder
1 tsp paprika
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp hot chocolate mix
1 cup chunky salsa
1-19oz can of chopped tomatoes
1-19oz can of kidney beans drained and rinsed
1/2 cup canned corn
Heat the oil in a large saucepan or large skillet and cook onions and garlic over medium heat until onions are translucent and garlic is soft. Add ground turkey and cook until turkey is cooked and no longer pink (about 8 minutes) Break up turkey with a spoon or spatula while cooking it.
Add in all the other ingredients and stir.
Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 35-40 minutes.
Serve with cooked rice or noodles. Top with grated cheese and/or sour cream. This would be very good served with nacho chips too!
