How To make Harvest Apple Bread
------------------------------PATTI - VDRJ67A------------------------------ 1/2 c Butter or margarine
1/2 c Sugar
1/2 c Brown sugar; packed
1 ts Vanilla
2 Eggs
2 c Flour
1 ts Baking soda
1/2 ts Salt
3 c Apples; finely chopped

ALMOND StrEUSEL:
2 tb Butter or margarine
3 tb Brown sugar
2 ts Cinnamon
1/3 c Almonds; finely chopped
Sliced almonds for garnish Cream the butter and sugars until light. Beat in vanilla and eggs. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt. Stir into butter mixture. Batter will be very thick. Stir in chopped apples, combining all ingredients well. Pour into greased 4x12" loaf pan. Combine the streusel ingredients in a saucepan. Stir over low heat until the mixture begins to bubble. Spread over batter. Bake at 375~ for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 350~. Bake an additional 30-35 minutes. Test with a toothpick. Remove pan to rack to cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Continue to cool on rack. Sprinkle with sliced almonds. * Peel and chop apples immediately before adding to batter to prevent browning. -----

This bread is one of my all-time favorite fall treats, and it's delightful as an after-dinner treat! Pairing the bread with a cup of hot homemade apple cider is a great idea for a fall morning or afternoon. All these amazing and delicious Autumn flavors in just one recipe. Enjoy!
Yield: 1 loaf
Ingredients:
- 1 3/4 cup (220 grams) all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 cup (120 mL) canola oil or vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100 grams) packed dark brown sugar or light
- 1/2 cup (115 grams) pumpkin puree, canned or fresh
- 1 cup (140 grams) peeled and shredded apple
- 3/4 cup (100 grams) peeled and shredded carrot
- 2 tablespoons (30 mL) milk
- 1 cup (130 grams) chopped pecans or walnuts
