How to Make Greek Chicken Gyros | The Mediterranean Dish

INGREDIENTS:
For the chicken
???? 1.5 lb Chicken tenders
???? Extra virgin olive oil for the pan
For the Chicken Gyro Marinade
???? 1 cup Greek yogurt (you can use reduced fat or fat free Greek yogurt if you like)
???? Juice of 1 large lemon
???? 2 tbsp Greek extra virgin olive oil
???? 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
???? 3 garlic cloves, minced
???? Kosher salt, generous pinch to taste
???? Black pepper, generous pinch to taste
???? 1 tbsp oregano
???? 1 tsp sweet paprika
???? 1 tsp ground cumin
???? 1 tsp ground coriander
???? pinch cayenne pepper, optional

???? 1 large Tomato, sliced
???? 1 cucumber, sliced
???? 1 green pepper, cored and sliced

Wagyu Beef Gyro
Gyros are Greek sandwiches (if you can even call them that) typically made from lamb, beef, or even chicken. Biting into a gyro is an experience like no other. The variety of textures, temperatures, and flavors is unmatched. But why hasn't anybody ever made a gyro using wagyu beef? My good friend @thegoldenbalance and I carefully considered this question and wholeheartedly agreed: we had to give it a try.
Now, you know me pretty well at this point. And this means you probably have a good understanding of my love for rotisserie chickens. The great part about gyros is that the meat is cooked on a vertical rotisserie, so this provided the perfect opportunity for me to get one of those machines. And that's exactly what we did.
Gyro:
Wagyu beef strips
Paprika
Oregano
Chili powder
Thyme
Cumin
Celery salt
Minced onion
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Bread:
2 2/3 cups bread flour
1 tsp salt
10 oz lukewarm water
1.5 packets active dry yeast
2 tbsp olive oil
Tzatziki:
1 medium cucumber (peeled)
2 cups Greek yogurt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1 clove minced garlic
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp fresh dill
Salt and pepper
Lemon zest
Toppings:
Fries
White onion
Tomato (salted)
Dill

The Ultimate Greek American Gyros
Follow my easy recipe to create the most delicious “Restaurant Quality” gyro pitas at home. This gyro meat can and should be doubled and even tripled because it freezes well. As a matter of fact, your family will beg you for this Greek-American classic once they try it.

Serves 6:
1 medium onion, quartered
1-pound ground lamb
1-pound ground beef
5 garlic cloves
2 teaspoons salt
1 heaping teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon finely chopped rosemary
1 heaping teaspoon cumin powder
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
Equipment: 9 x 5-inch loaf pan
For the Sandwiches:
Pita bread
Onion slices
Tomato slices
Tzatziki Sauce
Lettuce
Crumbled feta cheese
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 325 °F, 160 °C.
Place the garlic cloves in a food processor and pulse until very finely chopped.
Add onion and puree until smooth.
Add ground beef with all of the spices. Pulse until the mixture becomes like a paste. Scrape down the sides of the bowl in between pulses.
Place the mixture in a loaf pan. Compact it as much as possible.
Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the internal temperature registers 165 °F.
Allow the pan to cool at room temperature completely. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before removing from the pan.
Remove from pan onto a cutting board. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice it thinly. Pour all of the pan juices over the slices along with any of the fat that has gelatinized. It adds so much flavor when heating it up for the sandwiches.
At this point, the gyro slices can be placed in a freezer-safe bag and frozen for future use.
To make the Gyro sandwiches, place a cast iron pan over medium heat and cook the gyro slices until they are browned on both sides.
Warm the pita bread slightly. Place some chopped lettuce, onion and tomato slices over the pita, the warm gyro slices and tzatziki sauce with crumbled feta. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
NOTES
Freezer Instructions: Place the cooked gyro slices in a freezer bag or an airtight (freezer-safe) container and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to use thaw and pan fry until golden.

Greek Chicken Gyro with Tzatziki sauce
Serves 3-4
Recipe in English:
Ingredients:
-Chicken fillets ½ kg
-Lehsan (Garlic) chopped 1 & ½ tbs
-Paprika powder 1 tbs
-Kali mirch (Black pepper) crushed ½ tsp
-Dhania powder (Coriander powder) ½ tbs
-Lal mirch (Red chili) crushed 1 tsp
-Namak (Salt) ½ tsp or to taste
-Lemon zest ¼ tsp
-Dried thyme 1 tbs
-Chicken powder ½ tsp
-Cayenne powder ½ tbs
-Lemon juice 1-2 tbs
-Olive oil 2-3 tbs
-Olive oil 1-2 tbs
Tzatziki Sauce:
-Dahi (Yogurt) ½ kg
-Dill (Soya) chopped ½ tsp
-Fresh parsley chopped 1 tbs
-Lehsan (Garlic) chopped ½ tbs
-Kali mirch (Black pepper) crushed ½ tsp
-Namak (Salt) ¼ tsp or to taste
-Lemon juice 1 tbs
-Kheera (Cucumber) peeled 1
Greek Salad:
-Shimla mirch (Capsicum) cubes 1 large
-Kheera (Cucumber) peeled & cubes ½ Cup
-Tamatar (Tomato) cubes ½ Cup
-Pyaz (Onion) cubes ½ Cup
-Ice berg 1 Cup
-Brown sugar powdered ½ tbs
-Namak (Salt) 1 pinch or to taste
-Kali mirch (Black pepper) crushed 1 pinch
-Black olives as needed
-Lemon juice 1 tbs
-Feta cheese cubes
-Olive oil 1 tbs
Directions:
-Cut chicken fillets into strips & set aside.
-In bowl,add garlic,paprika powder,black pepper crushed,coriander powder,red chili crushed,salt,lemon zest,dried thyme,chicken powder,cayenne powder,lemon juice and olive oil,mix well.
-Add chicken strips,mix well and marinate for 30 minutes.
-In frying pan,add olive oil,marinated chicken and cook from both sides and squeeze lemon juice,mix well & set aside.
For Tzatziki Sauce:
-In bowl,place strainer,muslin/cheese cloth,add yogurt and bring the four edges of the muslin/cheese cloth together and tie the knot tightly,hang for 1-2 hours.Hung curd is ready!
-In bowl,add hung curd,add dill,fresh parsley,garlic,black pepper crushed,salt and lemon juice.
-In separate bowl,grate cucumber with the help of the grater and squeeze cucumber completely with the help of the hands then add in bowl,mix well & set aside.
For Greek Salad:
-In bowl,add capsicum,cucumber,tomato,onion,ice berg,brown sugar,salt,black pepper crushed,black olives,lemon juice,feta cheese,olive oil and give it a good mix.
-Serve with pita bread.

-Chicken strips dal ker ache tarhan mix karein aur 30 minutes kliya marinate ker lein.
-Frying pan mein olive oil aur marinated chicken dal dein aur dono sides sa paka lein,lemon juice dal ker ache tarhan mix karein & side per rakh dein.
For Tzatziki Sauce:
-Bowl mein strainer,muslin/cheese cloth rakh dein,dahi dal ker muslin/cheese cloth ka edges ko ek saath tie ker lein aur 1-2 hours kliya hang ker dein.Hung curd tayyar hai.
-Bowl mein hund curd,soya,fresh parsley,lehsan,kali mirch crushed,namak aur lemon juice dal dein.
-Alag bowl mein kheeray ko grater ki madad sa grate ker lein aur dono haathon ki madad sa ache tarhan squeeze ker lein aur bowl mein dal ker ache tarhan mix karein & side per rakh dein.
For Greek Salad:
-Bowl mein shimla mirch,kheera,tamatar,pyaz,ice berg,brown sugar,namak,kali mirch crushed,black olives,lemon juice,feta cheese aur olive oil dal ker mix ker lein.
-Pita bread ka saath serve karein.
