How To make Giant Oven Pancake
1/4 c Butter
2 Egg
1/2 c Flour
1/2 c Milk
1 ds Nutmeg
Lemon juice Sugar, confectioners Melt butter in 10 inch pie pan or cast iron skillet. In bowl, mix all flour, milk and eggs. Don't over beat, leave lumpy. Pour mixture on top of melted butter, sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 425 F. for 15 to 20 minutes. Sprinkle with lemon juice and dust with powdered sugar. Serve with preserves or marmalade. I find that splitting the batter in two halves, and baking it in metal pie plates works well, that way you don't have to cut it in half. A squirt of fresh lemon juice, a dusting of powdered sugar, and FAR too much apricot preserves on top makes it a fantastic breakfast...

About Life In Farmland: Our family strives to be as self-sufficient as we can be. We grow a lot of food in the garden, raise or hunt for our meat, cut and use firewood to heat our house in the cold Minnesota winters. We want to know where our food comes from, what goes into it. We strive to live a slower and sustainable lifestyle with family being our first priority. On this channel, you will find a lot of how-tos, shared experiences, recipes, and videos of things we are trying and learning more about.
Giant Japanese pancake in the oven.
You’ll need:
Cast iron frying pan 20 centimetres in diameter.
Three eggs
45 millilitres of milk
25 grams of sugar (or better yet,15 grams of honey, unfortunately I didn’t have) for yolks
60 grams of flour 00 or the highest grade
3 grams grams baking powder
60 grams of sugar for egg whites
Vegetable oil for a frying pan
Butter
Let’s start by separating egg whites from yolks. Stir the yolks with sugar (honey) and milk.
Mix flour and baking powder separately, then sift to the yolks and stir with a whisk.
Beat the egg whites separately and gradually add sugar. Keep whipping to a very dense consistency. Then mix egg whites with the yolk mass. You can use a whisk or a silicone shovel.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Lubricate the frying pan with oil. Lay out the dough. Put it in the heated oven for 10-15 minutes.
Enjoying...And if served with custard....Oh that’s the dump of the head ????
