Homemade Korean Fish Cakes
Korean Fish Cake (Eomuk)
1/2 lb boneless, skinless white fish (cod, snapper, pollack)
1/4 lb squid, cleaned and skin removed
1/4 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
1/4 onion, roughly cut
3 garlic cloves
1 large egg white
3 Tablespoons flour ( add 1 Tbsp if more than 1lb seafood)
3 Tablespoons potato starch or corn starch ( add 1 Tbsp if more than 1lb seafood)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
Oil for frying ( vegetable or grapeseed)
Directions
Cut and prep the fish, squid and shrimp and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the fish and squid into chunks and add to a food processor. Add the shrimp, onion, garlic, egg white, flour, potato starch, salt, pepper, and sugar into the food processor. Blend for 2-3 minutes, or until the mixture turns into a paste, stopping and scraping the sides halfway. Transfer to a bowl.
Heat oil on high heat in a wok or large pan until it bubbles, then reduce heat to medium.
Use a mini cookie / ice cream scoop or a spoon to scoop up the mixture and carefully drop into the hot oil. To make cycling shapes, flatten some of the paste onto an oiled spatula and roll up from one side to the other using a butter knife and drop into the hot oil.
Working in batches, fry the fish cakes for 4-6 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to plate lined with a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Slice or place on skewers / toothpicks to serve as an appetizer with your favorite condiment or use for side dishes, soups or tteokbokki.
Store in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week or store in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Ingredients:
To cook fish:
Water - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Seer fish - 250 gms
To make fish balls-
Oil
Garlic chopped - 1 tsp
Ginger chopped - 1 tsp
Onion chopped - 1
Red chilli flakes - 1 tsp
Slat - 1/2 tsp
Pepper
Potato boiled & mashed - 1
Corn flour - 2tbsp
Bread crumbs
Mayo
Methods:
In a saucepan add 1 cup of water
Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
Add 1 tsp of salt and mix well
Now add the fish pieces
Cook the fish for about 10 mins
Remove the fish pieces from water and let it cool
Shred the fish pieces into smaller pieces and remove the bones
Heat a pan with some oil, add 1 tsp of garlic, 1 tsp of ginger, 1 onion chopped and saute it
Add the fish pieces and saute
Add 1 tsp of red chili flakes, 1/2 tsp of salt, some pepper and mix well
Add 1 boiled and mashed potato
Finally add coriander leaves and mix well
Keep this aside and let it cool a bit
In a bowl, add 2 tbsp of cornflour, gradually add water and mix well
Take some bread crumbs to coat the fish balls
Make small balls from the fish mixture
Dip it into the cornflour batter and dip it into the bread crumbs and roll it well
Heat some oil for deep frying
Add the fish balls and deep fry them till they are golden brown in color
Serve them hot with ketchup or mayo

5g Parsley
3 tbsp Olive Oil

Half cup Corn Flour
Half Cup Maida

Cooking Method
1. Grind the fish
2. Now, add egg, white chili powder, salt, green capsicum, carrot, black olive, almond, pistachio, parsley, olive oil, green chili and mix them
3. Now, add corn flour, maida and mix them. The mixture is ready
4. Make balls from the mixture
5. Now, dip these balls in corn flour, egg then covers with breadcrumb
6. Now, deep fry these balls in cooking oil
Your tasty Fish Ball now ready to serve
