Hey Foodies,
Holidays are just around the corner so I’m guessing you’re probably looking for easy delicious desserts, right?
If that’s the case, then I’ve got some amazing news for you.
Today I’m going to show you how to make a super easy vegan chocolate fudge recipe with cocoa powder and without condensed milk.
This is one of the best homemade chocolate fudge recipes because it takes just 10 minutes to make, it’s vegan, Paleo and also low carb. So it’s fair to say it’s healthy too.
In the next part, I will tell you how to make this easy chocolate fudge recipe without condensed milk, which ingredients can be replaced and what to serve with it.
So stick around ’cause it gets fudgy and chocolatey.
How to make the best homemade chocolate fudge – Best Tips & Tricks
1. How to make this easy chocolate fudge recipe with cocoa powder
Cocoa powder is the most important ingredient in this recipe because it simply transforms everything into a rich smooth melt-in-your-mouth fudge.
I recommend using Dutch-processed cocoa powder* as it has a mellow flavor, low acidity and melts easily in liquids.
This will make your vegan chocolate fudge darker and chocolatey in flavor.
On the other hand, natural cocoa powder* has a lighter color, a strong chocolate flavor and it’s more acid and bitter.
So if you make the Paleo chocolate fudge with natural cocoa powder it will have a bitter tangy flavor, similar to dark chocolate.
Now don’t get me wrong, this is not a bad thing. I like homemade chocolate fudge mellow and that’s why I used and recommend Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
But there are many foodies who prefer the slightly bitter flavor and if you are one of them just replace Dutch-processed with natural cocoa powder.
It’s worth mentioning that some homemade chocolate fudge recipes include baking powder for leavening, which has a neutral-pH. In this case, you should go with Dutch-process cocoa as it has a neutral-pH as well. If it’s leavened with baking soda, then stick to natural cocoa powder.
2. How to make this easy chocolate fudge recipe without condensed milk
I know that many homemade chocolate fudge recipes include condensed milk because it gives a nice texture and flavor.
And believe me when I say I absolutely love it. Even though it’s not that healthy it’s just sooo gooood!
So now you are probably wondering why on Earth would you remove it?!
But what if we can get the same texture and flavor (even better some would argue), using clean and healthy ingredients. Wouldn’t that be better?
And best of all, it’s super easy. Just replace condensed milk with maple syrup*, some creamy nut butter, vanilla extract, and coconut oil*, and you’ll get the most delicious and fudgiest fudge in Fudgeland.
But don’t just take my word for it, try it yourselves! I’m sure you’ll see that making this easy chocolate fudge recipe without condensed milk is a no-brainer.
3. Which ingredients can be replaced
This part is for those of you who want to bring their own touch to the recipe or just don’t have all ingredients handy.
You can use any of your favorite nut butter such as almond, cashew or peanut butter*.
Furthermore, you can use raw honey instead of maple syrup but note that it won’t be vegan anymore.
As mentioned at Tip #1, you can use natural cocoa powder instead of Dutch-processed if you prefer the slightly bitter dark chocolate flavor.
Next, you can also add extra toppings such as sprinkles, roasted chopped nuts or dried fruits. After pouring the fudge mixture into the pan, allow it to set for about 30min into the freezer, then sprinkle the toppings and freeze again.
Now let me give you some recommendations on what to serve with this vegan chocolate fudge with cocoa powder.
4. What to serve with vegan chocolate fudge
If you’re a chocoholic, I’m pretty sure you can serve it with mostly anything. I know I can ????
