How To make Basic Oatburger
4 1/2 c Water
1/3 c Oil OR
1 Large onion, diced
1/4 c Italian seasoning
1/2 c Soy sauce
1/2 c Nuts, ground
1 t Garlic salt
1/4 c Flaked
nutriti nal yeast Bring all ingredients to a boil. Turn down heat and add 4 1/2 c. rolled oats. Do not stir. Cook about five minutes. Then set aside to cool. Form patties with oiled mason jar lid. Place on oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes, turning every 15 minutes. Serve with ketchup or gravy. Makes about 20 ~25 medium sized burgers. Today, most stores carry a wide variety of plant-based burgers. Unfortunately, these frozen burgers are often full of sodium and preservatives. In this video, Margaret Gallant makes a healthier alternative. Her oat burger recipe is simple, delicious, and completely freezer friendly.
INGREDIENTS: - 3 cups water
- 1/4 cup Braggs Liquid Aminos (or two tbsp. soy sauce)
- 1 tsp. Liquid Hickory smoke
- 1 Tbsp. Chik’n seasoning
- 3 Tbsp. Yeast flakes
- 1 onion finely diced(or 1/4cup dried onion flakes)
- 3 cups quick oats
- 1/2 cup ground nuts (walnut or pecans preferably)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Place all above except oats and nuts in a saucepan and simmer for 4 minutes.
2. Remove from heat and stir in oats and nuts. Let sit until cool enough to handle.
3. To form burger shapes, use a canning lid to measure equal-sized patties. Pack the mixture into the canning lid and flip it onto a lined baking sheet.
4. Bake the burgers at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Flip burgers halfway through cooking time to brown on both sides.
