How To make Apple Pie 2
Apples; * see note 3/4 c Brown sugar, packed
2 tb Tapioca; or more
4 tb Lemon juice
1 ts Cinnamon
1 ts Nutmeg
1/2 c Sugar
*Use an apple such as Granny Smith. Use as many apple as you prefer to make a thick pie. Place apples in unbaked pie crust. In bowl, mix brown sugar and tapioca; let mixture sit for 15 minutes. In the meatime, sprinkle 4 T lemon juice over the apples. Then pour tapioca mixture on the apples and lemon juice, followed by cinnamin, nutmeg and sugar. Place 2nd crust on top. Pinch crusts together; bake at 350 deg for 1-1 1/2 hours until nicely browned. -----

This homemade Dutch Apple Pie is a showstopping holiday-worthy dessert. It is everything you love about Classic Apple Pie with a buttery crumb topping.

INGREDIENTS FOR THE APPLE PIE:
►1 disk of pie dough (1/2 of our pie dough recipe).
►2 1/4 lbs granny smith apples (6 medium apples)
►1 tsp cinnamon
►8 Tbsp unsalted butter
►3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
►1/4 cup water
►1 cup granulated sugar

Spiced Apple Pie Recipe
This richly spiced Apple Pie served with a brandy creme Anglaise from the fall chapter of MY BOOK is a delicious celebration of autumn. The crisp butter crust is spiced with cinnamon and spiked with apple brandy. And those leaves look so impressive but are beyond easy! I have ALL my favorite spices in this pie and while you can use any of your favorite baking apples I would suggest you use some soft ones to really get that lovely play of textures with the pie and pourable custard. Crusty outer covering stuffed with crumbly apple mixture, baked till perfection.
APPLE PIE
Ingredients
Crust
250 grams refined flour (maida) + for dusting
½ cup powdered sugar
Salt to taste
75 grams frozen butter
Filling
2 large green apples, roughly chopped
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
Milk wash
1 tablespoon milk
½ tablespoon castor sugar
Icing sugar for dusting
Method
1. To make crust dough, sift refined flour, powdered sugar, salt through a sieve in a mixing bowl. Add frozen butter, mix well. Add 1 tablespoon chilled water, knead into a semi-stiff dough.
2. Place dough on a cling film, seal with a wrap and refrigerate till firm.
3. Heat a non-stick pan. Add apples, sugar, mix and cook till the apples turn soft. Remove from heat and set aside.
4. Mix together cooked apples and cinnamon powder, set aside to cool at room temperature.
5. Preheat oven at 180˚C.
6. Divide the crust dough into equal portions. Dust the working-top with refined flour and roll out the crust dough into thin sheets. Roll the thin sheets using a rolling pin.
7. Line a pie dish with the rolled dough sheet.
8. Mix together apple mixture and cake crumbs in a mixing bowl, transfer to pie dish, and cover with another sheet of dough. Make a criss-cross pattern on top.
9. Milk wash with milk and castor sugar. Place the dish in the baking oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or till the crust is light golden.
10. Remove from the oven, transfer to a serving dish, dredge icing sugar on top and serve.
