Portuguese Sweet Bread Easter Folaro
PORTUGUESE SWEET BREAD (EASTER FOLAROS )
5 lbs of all purpose flour (Five Roses )
15 whole eggs
4 cups sugar
2 tbsp lemon zest
2 tbsp lemon extract
2 tbsp yeast
4 cups warm milk
1 ½ cups melted butter
2 tbsp Crisco
1 ½ tbsp salt
Hard boil eggs. At your discretion
2 eggs (egg wash )
Step 1: Into a small bowl, add ½ cup warm water, 2 tbsp yeast,2 tbsp four, 1 tbsp sugar and mix well. In the mixer, add eggs,sugar, lemon zest and lemon extract. Mix everything for 5 minutes.
Step 2: In a large bowl, add flour, salt, warm milk, melted butter and yeast. Mix everything until the dough leaves the bowl clean.
Step 3:Cover bowl, let rest for 15 minutes and give some flips. After another 15 minutes give one more time flips. Let the dough rest until the pan doubles in size.
Step 4: Grease your forms and put aside. Turn the oven to 400 degrees. Wet your hands in water and grab a piece of dough. Shape into a ball to the size of your baking pans. After all the dough is divided between the pans, add hard boil eggs by inserting them in the middle of the pan. Cover dough and let rest for 30 minutes. Beat the two eggs adding 1 tbsp water and brush over the dough before placing in the oven. Turn the oven to 375 degrees and bake bread for about 40 minutes. Cover with foil if it is getting too much color.

Passo 1: Em uma tigela pequena, adicione ½ xícara de água morna, 2 colheres de sopa de fermento, 2 colheres de sopa de quatro, 1 colher de sopa de açúcar e misture bem. Na batedeira, coloque os ovos, o açúcar, as raspas de limão e o extrato de limão. Misture tudo por 5 minutos.
Etapa 2: em uma tigela grande, adicione a farinha, o sal, o leite morno, a manteiga derretida e o fermento. Misture tudo até que a massa saia da tigela limpa.
Passo 3: Tampe a tigela, deixe descansar por 15 minutos e dê algumas viradas. Depois de mais 15 minutos, dê mais uma virada de tempo. Deixe a massa descansar até que a forma dobre de tamanho.
Etapa 4: Unte seus formulários e reserve. Ligue o forno a 400 graus. Molhe as mãos na água e pegue um pedaço de massa. Faça uma bola do tamanho de suas assadeiras. Depois que toda a massa estiver dividida entre as forminhas, acrescente os ovos para ferver, inserindo-os no meio da panela. Cubra a massa e deixe descansar por 30 minutos. Ingredientes
3 1/2 xícaras de Leite
225 ml de manteiga sem sal em temperatura ambiente
125 ml de encurtamento
5 1/2 xícaras de açúcar
1 colher de sopa de sal
Raspas de 1 limão
15 ovos (a temperatura ambiente)
2,5 kg de Farinha de Trigo
2/3 xícara de óleo vegetal
Gordura vegetal para untar as formas de bolo (aproximadamente 6 colheres de chá)
Prepare o Fermento
Ingredientes
3 colheres de sopa de fermento seco ativo
1 colher de sopa de açúcar
1 colher de farinha
1 xícara de água morna
LEVAR O FORNO A 305F para 1 hora
* A melhor hora para começar esta receita para mim é de manhã cedo OU começar no final da noite ( 21h) e deixar a massa a levedar durante a noite...
* (Certifique-se de manter a massa em um lugar quente e coberta enquanto cresce)
* Depois de colocar a massa nas panelas - a massa levará de 2 a 3 horas adicionais para subir ao topo da panela.

Ingredients
4 packs dry active yeast 21 g
2-1/2. Cups milk. 610 g
2 Cups sugar 400 g
1/2 Cup butter 113 g
1/2 Cup shortening 113 g
1 TBSP salt 18 g
11 Cups flour 1320 g
8 eggs 456 g
2 lemons for zest
EGG WASH
1 egg
1 tsp water

Directions
1. Use a half a cup of milk (from the total 2-1/2 cups) to dissolve yeast with a pinch of sugar (ideally the milk should be between 105 and 115°F )
2. Mix together flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. In a small saucepan, melt butter and shortening in milk over medium heat and cool to warm temperature (not over 130 F.
3. Beat eggs and sugar together.
4. Mix all ingredients together and knead 10 minutes by hand or about 5 minutes in a mixer with the kneading hook. Let rise, usually 4-5 hours if the ambient temperature is between 75 and 80. It will take about six-7 hours if the temperature is between 65 and 70. (or you could let it proof overnight 8-9 hours)
5. Punch down, deflating the dough. Knead by hand for about 5 minutes. Form individual breads and put in buttered pans. The dough should fill only half the pan. Let rise again until dough doubles in size, filling the pan. 2-4 hours
6. Make an egg wash with one egg white and 1 tablespoon of water. (whisk the water and egg together in a small bowl) Brush top of dough with beaten wash. .
7. Bake at 325 degrees for 40-45 minutes (adjust longer cook time for larger loaves). The bread should be golden brown. If you have a meat thermometer, you can pull the bread out of the oven when the internal temperature is between 180 and 190°F. Because this bread has so much sugar it has the tendency to get very dark. So I found that pulling the bread when the temperature gets to about 180 is sufficient.
8. Let cool for about 15 minutes and remove from pan.
