Your Kids Will Love This! Sweet & Sour Fish 糖醋鱼 Chinese Whole Fish Recipe • How to deep fry fish
Ketchup-based sweet and sour sauce isn't a novel idea. In fact, the practice originated in China. It all began with someone from somewhere in China, where sweet & sour pork is said to have originated. This person dipped thinly sliced pork with potato starch batter before deep-frying it twice until crispy. The pork is then lightly coated in a sweet and sour sauce made of sugar syrup and rice vinegar. Since then, people have been combining sweet and sour sauce with other ingredients like chicken, fish, and beef, among others. Residents of another province began making their own version of sweet and sour sauce, something thicker and contains ketchup. The information presented above was gathered from a 5-minute desktop research. Please feel free to correct us if you come across contradictory information.
