Making Spiced Oatmeal Cookies from the 1953 edition of 'The Joy of Cooking'
I was going to make a mackerel recipe today but I couldn't find anchovies for the anchovy butter at my local supermarket, so instead I made cookies!
The recipe asks for 1/2 tsp of salt, I feel 1/4 would be better, they are a bit too salty for me. Otherwise these were easy to make and very tasty.
Recipe is from p678 of the 1953 edition of 'The Joy of Cooking' by Irma S. Rombauer and Marion Rombauer Becker.

Think of these iced gingerbread oatmeal cookies as the holiday version of regular iced oatmeal cookies. They’re every bit as chewy, soft, nostalgic, and wholesome, but brimming with gingerbread spices and topped with spiced vanilla icing.
