How To make Montana Sourdough Doughnuts
2 Eggs
1 cup Sugar
1 cup Sourdough starter
1/2 cup Buttermilk
1 tablespoon Oil
=OR= 1 tablespoon Lard
melted
4 1/2 cups Flour :
sifted
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
1/2 teaspoon -Salt
1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
Fat for frying
Beat eggs and sugar together. Add starter, buttermilk, lard and sifted dry ingredients. Mix well. Turn out dough and knead on a lightly floured board until smooth. Roll to 1/2" thickness and cut with a 2 3/4" doughnut cutter. Put on greased cookes sheet and let rise for 30 minutes. Fry in hot deep fat (370 ) until golden brown and done. Roll in sugar. Makes about 3 dozen.

Sometimes you just need a good sourdough discard recipe and this one doesn't disappoint. I threw this pumpkin muffin recipe together earlier this week and the kids were obsessed, so much so that they devoured almost 50 muffins in just a few days time! But, it's okay because they were filled with healthy ingredients and very little sugar. This is great way to avoid wasting your discard and put it to good use!

Vegan doughnuts recipe
INGREDIENTS:
Dough:
Starter
1 cup of flour
1 cup of warm soy milk (or other)
1 tbsp of sugar
3g of dry yeast
More:
40ml of oil
5 tbps of sugar
Vanilla extract
3 cups of flour
1/3 cup of water
Dates caramel:
100g of dates
1/2 cup of thick coconut milk
Pinch of salt
Vanilla extract
Almond glaze:
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp of almond butter
3-4 tbsp soy milk (or other)
Superfood powder glaze:
1/2 cup of powdered sugar
2 tbsp of the superfood powder
5-6 tbsp of soy milk (or other)
More:
Ground almonds
Dry strawberries
Mix of powdered sugar and superfood powder
