Nail Art-Inspired Neon Drip Cake I CHELSWEETS
I had the pleasure of having Taryn Multack @missladyfinger join me in the kitchen to help me make this out of control neon cake! It's inspired by her amazing nail art.
In this video, Taryn walks us through her neon manicure, step by step. We then decorate a colorful caramel cake in the same striped pattern, add on some pink drips, and bright, white chocolate shards. We also get to learn a little bit more about Taryn and how she became such an amazing nail artist!!

Neon Cake // PASTEL NEON
INGREDIENTS
2/3 cup buttermilk
1 3/4 cups cake flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups unsalted butter, room temperature
1 tsp vanilla extract
4 1/2 cups confectioner’s sugar
pink, yellow and green neon food coloring
LET'S GET COOKING...
Place the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add 1 egg at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and combine.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add half of the flour mixture, then the buttermilk, then the remaining flour mixture.
Divide the mixture into 3 bowls, and dye it pink, yellow and green. Spread the mixture onto a jelly roll pan lined with parchment paper, so that each color takes up one third of the pan. Bake at 350F for 30-40 minutes, until a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean. Allow to fully cool in the pan.
Using an 11 cm round cookie cutter, cut 2 rounds out of each color. Set aside.
Place the butter in a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer until pale and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and beat until combined. Add the confectioner’s sugar one cup at a time, then beat for 3-4 minutes, until fluffy.
Stack the layers of cake on a serving platter of your choice, starting with green and ending with pink, spreading a layer of buttercream between each layer. Coat the entire surface of the cake in a thin layer of buttercream, then place in the fridge for 15 minutes.
Place 1/3 cup of the buttercream in a piping bag fitted with a small, round piping tip and set aside. Divide the remaining buttercream into 3 bowls and dye it pink, yellow and green.
Spread the buttercream onto the cake to create 3 stripes, corresponding with the colors of the layers of cake. Using a large offset spatula, smooth the entire surface of the cake in one horizontal motion. This will smooth the edges of the stripes together and create a pretty effect.
Using the reserved white buttercream, pipe a graphic pattern onto the surface of the cake. Enjoy!
