INGREDIENTS
- 2 tbsp white granulated sugar
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cups boiling water
- 6-7 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp (1 pkg) instant yeast
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine the sugar, salt, butter, and boiling water. Allow the butter to melt and stir to dissolve the sugar and salt.
- When the mixture has cooled off to between 100°F and 110°F, add 6 cups of flour and the instant yeast. Using the dough hook on the mixer, knead the dough on medium speed for 5 minutes.
- After the dough has kneaded, stop the mixer and check the dough. If it is shaggy and sticking to the sides of the bowl, add 1/4 cup of the reserved flour. Work the flour into the dough for 2-3 minutes and check again, adding more flour as needed.
- When the dough starts to clear the sides of the mixing bowl and cling to the dough hook, remove it from the mixer. Sprinkle 1 tbsp flour on the counter and knead the dough, pushing it away, then folding it back on itself, and repeating the process. The dough should slightly stick to the counter when sitting but easily become smooth when being kneaded.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled large bowl and cover. Set the bowl in a warm place, such as an oven that has been warmed to 100°F and turned off. Allow the dough to rise until doubled, 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down. Split into two even amounts. Working with one piece at a time, roll the dough into a 10-inch by 13-inch rectangle. Roll the dough up lengthwise, like rolling cinnamon rolls or a jelly roll. Pinch the seam tightly as well as the ends to seal. Set the loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet pan with the seam side down and the pinched ends placed underneath the loaf. Repeat with the second piece of dough.
- Beat the egg in a small bowl until smooth. Brush the loaves with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if using. Use a sharp knife to make five diagonal 1/2-inch deep cuts in each loaf. Place the loaves in a warm place to rise for 1 hour. Also, preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Once the dough has risen, place the loaves in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-30 minutes until the bread is a deep golden color on the top and bottom. If using an instant-read thermometer, the center of the bread should read 200°F once baked. Remove the loaves from the oven and cool for 30 minutes before slicing.

From my farm to your home. ????
My name is Kaleb Wyse and here, you will find delicious recipes, videos from my farm, garden, and fun home projects. My knowledge has been earned from years of home cooks and farmers in my family.
A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.
So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do.

INGREDIENTS
For the regular bread:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 cup old fashioned oatmeal
- 2 1/2 cups water, boiling
-2 3/4 tsp instant active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 – 5 cups flour
For the cinnamon raisin version:
- 3/4 cup raisins (regular or golden)
- 1 tbsp butter
-1 tbsp granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine butter, honey, whole wheat flour, salt, and oatmeal in a stand mixer.
Add boiling water. Stir well and let sit until lukewarm.
Once the mixture is lukewarm, add 2 cups of flour and instant active dry yeast. Mix until incorporated and continue to add flour 1 cup at a time until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Once the flour is added, the dough will be slightly tacky but hold its shape while it's kneaded. For the cinnamon raisin variety: Flatten the dough into a 10 × 12-inch rectangle and spread with raisins. Knead raisins into the dough to evenly distribute. Flatten the dough again to a 10 × 12-inch rectangle and brush with softened butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Roll up and cinch seams.
Grease a bowl and place dough inside to rise. It will take approximately an hour.
After the dough has risen, punch down and separate into two sections. Knead on a lightly floured surface into a smooth ball and press lightly into a greased 8 ½ x 4 ½-inch loaf pan. Repeat with the rest of the dough.
Set loaves in a warm place to rise until doubled in height, approximately 55-90 minutes.
Bake at 350°F for 40-55 minutes until tops are golden brown. To make sure the centers are fully baked, the temperature should register 190°F.
Rub butter over the top of the loaves and let cool. If freezing, let the bread cool completely so ice does not form around the loaf.
