Honey Cornflakes Cookies | Biskut Cornflakes Madu | Honey Joys [Nyonya Cooking]
Honey coated crispy cornflakes, topped with cherries. Great for parties and the festive seasons. If you have some cornflakes sitting on your kitchen counter, try this recipe.
Churning up enough cookies for the festive season can be a daunting task. It takes tremendous effort and determination to see it through, not to mention the frustration when the cookies do not turn out as expected. However, it is the atmosphere during the preparation that should be appreciated and cherished. The chatters and laughters that are shared livens up the atmosphere.
Usually, I will be gifted with these cookies from my neighbour during Hari Raya (Muslim New Year). These cookies are also available during other festive seasons. It is impossible not to love them as they are so addictive once you start munching on them. These cookies are popular not only in Malaysia but also in Australia where they are known as Honey Joys instead. What a befitting and cute name indeed.
Using very minimal ingredients like butter, honey and plain cornflakes, you can make this very quickly. Just remember not to heat the butter at a high heat or it may burn. Once ready, decorate them with maraschino cherries, pimp them up with nuts or even make it fun by adding some sprinkles over them. Otherwise, pour some melted chocolate over it! There is no end as to how you can make them more delicious or attractive. Go with your imagination!
