PIE CRUST:
2 c All-purpose flour 1/2 ts Salt 1 c Vegetable shortening Ice water FILLING AND ASSEMBLY: Heat oven to 450 degrees. Mix all ingredients together at medium speed of electric mixer, blending thoroughly. Pour into pie shell and bake at 450 degrees for 5 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees and continue cooking for 45 minutes, or until pie is set. Let cool about 10 minutes before serving. PIECRUST: Mix flour and salt together in a bowl. Cut vegetable shortening into flour until mixture resembles course meal. Sprinkle with ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing quickly with a fork after each spoonful. Add only enough water so dough holds together and can be formed into a ball. Divide dough into 2 equal portions and form each into a smooth ball, handling as little as possible. Roll one portion out onto lightly floured surface. Place rolled dough in a 9-inch pie plate; trim and flute edges.

INGREDIENTS

WAY OF PREPARATION
1. Rub carrots on a small grater. Wash and dry oranges, remove a dried peel in the form of thin stripes from a half of one, rub other dried peel on a small grater. Squeeze out juice of a half of orange. Sift flour together with a baking powder. Crush in the blender almonds to a small crumb and add to flour. Shake up the softened butter with sugar, put an orange dried peel and ground cinnamon, stir. Then hammer on one egg, carefully kneading every time.
2. To put flour mix, put grated carrots and the egg white shaked in foam. Accurately stir a rake. Buttered form with a diameter of 22 cm strew with flour, pour out in it dough and bake in previously warmed to 350 F. to an oven of 35-40 min.
3. Cool a cake layer on a lattice. Cut the cake into two parts and spread apricot jam. For glaze to put icing sugar in liqueur, add 2 tablespoons of orange juice, carefully stir. Lay out a pie on a serving dish, water with glaze, decorate with dried peel strips, cool 1 h.
