Red candied cherries Green candied citron Recipe by: CHRISTMAS COOKBOOK Mix 1 cup sugar, the margarine, shortening, orange peel and whole eggs. Stir in flour. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into ropes, about 6" long and 1/4" in diameter. Form each rope into circle, crossing ends and tucking under. (This shaping method is easier than the traditional method of tying knots.) Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Beat egg white and 2 Tablespoon sugar until foamy; brush over tops of cookies. For holly berries, press bits of red candied cherries on center of knot; add little jagged leaves cut from citron. Bake until set but not brown, 10-12 min. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. About 6 dozen cookies. -----

Gifts From Your Kitchen | Vintage Betty Crocker Recipes
This week Melinda is making some gifts from her kitchen! There’s a section in the Betty Crocker Recipe Card Library full of ideas for gifts and giveaways, so Melinda is trying a few out to give away over the holidays. Berlinerkranzer cookies are buttery wreath shaped cookies with a hint of orange flavor. According to Betty Crocker, they pair nicely with Candied Orange Peel, which we’ll try too. And for the third gift, we’re making Toffee with crunchy pecans and chocolate. All cute little gifts when wrapped up in cellophane and tied with a bow!
Happy Homemaking!

Berlinerkranzer - Little Wreaths
Recipe:
The German cookie, Berlinerkranzer, or Little Wreaths, can be made in various ways. In this video I chose to color the dough instead of using colored sugar. As promised, I am making the old world cookies as simple as possible. I will be using prepared sugar cookie dough as my base cookie dough and using a variety of natural additives, coloring, and flavorings.
