Air Fryer Cranberry-Walnut Bacon Turkey Burgers | Instant Vortex Plus | Quarter Pound Burgers
I finally gave in and bought an air fryer and have been having so much fun testing recipes and playing around with it. These turkey burgers are super easy to make and super tasty. Adding the craisins and walnuts gives them a Thanksgiving flair and reminds me of having a leftovers sandwich the day after. I am planning on many more AF recipes in the future, so stay tuned!
NOTE: All air fryers are different so you may have to adjust your cook times according to the model you own. I am using the Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer, 6 Quart, 6 One-Touch Programs, Air Fry, Roast, Broil, Bake, Reheat, and Dehydrate:
Today’s Ingredients:
1¼ lbs ground turkey
½ cup walnuts, chopped
½ cup craisins, chopped (dried cranberries)
2 TB fresh parsley, chopped
¼ cup lemon juice
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp ground sage
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
4 slices of thick cut bacon, cut into 8 pieces
4 hamburger buns
olive oil
4 slices of any melting cheese you like (provolone, muenster, cheddar, gouda in the video)
Optional burger ingredients of your choice: mayonnaise, cranberry sauce, red onion, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, cucumber, etc...
Instructions:
1. Make the turkey patties: Add the first ten ingredients (ground turkey through black pepper) to a large mixing bowl. Gently mix together to evenly distribute all ingredients, but don’t overwork the meat. Separate the mixture into four sections and form each section into a patty. Place the patties onto a plastic wrap lined sheet tray and lay more plastic over the top of the patties. Place the tray into the freezer to chill for 30-60 minutes while you prepare the other ingredients.
2. Cook the bacon: Place the bacon slices into the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 8-10 minutes at 400° until crispy to your liking. Check it after 5 minutes and flip if needed. Remove the bacon to a cooling rack.
3. Toast the buns: Separate the bun halves and spray on all sides with olive oil or other oil spray. Place the buns into the fryer basket in a single layer (mine only fits 4 bun halves at a time) and cook for 4-6 minutes at 400° until toasted, flipping once halfway. Move the toasted buns to the cooling rack and repeat for additional buns.
4. Cook the turkey patties: Place the chilled patties into the fryer basket and air fry for 10 minutes at 400°, flipping once halfway through. Optional: Place a slice of cheese over each patty and air fry for 1 more minute just to melt the cheese.
5. Build your own burger with the toppings of your choice. Enjoy!
