How to make a Shirley Temple (Classic recipe and Modern recipe)
Named after the child actor Shirley Temple who was a huge name back in the 1930's, it was supposedly created by a bartender in the Chasen's Bar in Beverly Hills.
Classic Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 5-10ml (0.2oz-0.3oz) Grenadine
- 120ml (4oz) Ginger ale
- 5ml (0.2oz) Fresh lime juice
- Maraschino cherry for a garnish
How to make:
1. Fill a highball glass with ice and add the ingredients apart from the cherry.
2. Give it a light stir to mix in the flavours.
3. Ganrish with a maraschino cherry.
Modern Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 5-10ml (0.2oz-0.3oz) Grenadine
- 120ml (4oz) Soda I used Sprite (Lemonade)
- 5ml (0.2oz) Fresh lime juice
- Maraschino cherry for a garnish
How to make:
1. Fill a highball glass with ice and add the ingredients apart from the cherry.
2. Give it a light stir to mix in the flavours.
3. Ganrish with a maraschino cherry.
Out of the two variations which do you prefer the Shirley Temple with ginger ale or soda (lemonade)?
They are both a sweet tasting mocktail but I personally prefer the one with ginger ale.
Next up is the Alan Shearer, named after a certain geordie legend.
