How To make Whole Wheat Hamburger Buns
1 1/4 cups warm water (about 100F)
1/3 cup mild oil
1/4 cup sugar (or honey)
2 packages yeast (2 scant Tbsp)
4 teaspoons salt
1 egg yolk
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup bread flour (or all-purpose flour)
Melted butter
Combine water, oil, sugar and yeast. Mix thoroughly and then allow to rest for 15 minutes. Mix in the salt, egg yolk, whole wheat flour, and white flour and combine until thoroughly mixed (at least 10 minutes). On a floured board, roll the dough out until it is about 3/4-inch thick. cut circles of dough about 4-inch in diameter with a cutter (or use a large empty can that you have washed out).
Place the buns on a cookie sheet, brush the tops with melted butter, and allow to raise for 30 minutes.
Bake at 425F for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
YIELD: 10 buns

How to Make Super Soft 100% Whole Wheat Burger Buns
I’m quite a health-conscious person, but I do eat too much white flour. Most of the recipes on this channel are made with white flour too. Of course, it makes the softest breads and when it comes to burgers, then the flavour is up to the filling anyway, so the bun is mostly there for texture.
In an effort to start using more whole grain and multi grain flours I created a separate playlist for such recipes at the beginning of 2023. It already has 25 videos in it, so if you are interested in the more nutritious side of breadmaking, then definitely check it out.
So, that leads us to this recipe. I’ve made burger bun videos before, but they were all white flour. These buns are 100% whole wheat, and they are still extremely soft and tender, and they will stay soft for longer too all thanks to the scalding method. And of course, they’re made without kneading.

How to make Whole Wheat Flour Burger Buns at Home | Easy Homemade Buns
Today in Grey Pot let's make Whole Wheat Flour Burger Buns.
Ingredients
Whole Wheat Flour - 2cups /230gms
Butter - 50 gms
Buttermilk - 1 cup / 200ml
Sugar - 1/4 cup / 50gms
Instant Yeast - 1 1/4 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Mix all and make a dough and knead only for 4 minutes and let it rest for 2 hours. After 2 hours divide it into 8 parts and make balls and place it in a greased plate and cover it for 30 minutes. give an egg wash and bake it in 180 degree pre - heated oven for 20 - 25 minutes.

This is my favorite recipe for rolls. It is a simple and straight forward recipe and the rolls turn out incredible every time. I use these for hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches or just as dinner rolls.

Whole wheat burger buns
Ingredients
-Whole wheat aata 2 cups
-Salt 1 tsp
-Yeast 1.5 tsp
- Lukewarm Milk 1 cup
-Oil 2 tbsp
-Honey 2 tbsp
-Sesame seeds 1 tbsp
-Extra flour if needed
Direction
-Sieve 2 cups ww flour. Add salt, instant yeast and honey. Mix well.
- Add 1cup of warm milk and knead the dough into hard ball.
- Spread oil on work place and knead the dough for 10 minutes by stretch and pull method until soft and smooth dough ball is formed.
-Let the dough rest for 1 hour at warm place until double in size.
- Grease hands and divide the dough in 6 equal parts and make dough balls.
- Let the balls rest for another half an hour meanwhile preheat the oven at 180 C.
- Brush some milk and sprinkle sesame seeds on dough buns and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven, brush melted butter on top of buns.
- Cut the bun from centre and enjoy with filling of your choice.
