How To make Welsh Cakes (Bakestone Recipes)
8 oz Plain flour
1 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Mized spice
2 oz Butter or margarine
2 oz Lard
3 oz Granulated sugar
2 oz Raisins (or currants)
1 Egg, beaten
3 tb Milk
Sift the flour, baking powder and spice into a mizing bowl. Cut the fat into the flour, and rub it to a breadcrumb-like consistency; then mix in the sugar and raisins. Mix in the egg, and sufficient milk to make a stiff dough. Roll out on a floured board to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into 3 inch rounds. Bake on a hot greased bakestone until golden brown, about 4 minutes on each side. * Variation: "Teisen Dinca" -- Make up the Welsh Cake dough adding 6 oz peeled and grated cooking apples before adding the egg. Mix to a stiff dough, adding milk if necessary. Roll out, cut into rounds and cook on the bakestone as for Welsh Cakes. Serve hot with butter, golden syrup, or honey.

You can find the recipe pinned in the comments. We recently got back from a trip to the UK, and I was inspired to make these. I like to use an electric skillet for better temperature control and for a larger surface area.

Gluten Free Welsh Cakes! Perfect for baking in time for St David’s Day! Recipe in the comments #food
Welsh Cakes - My recipe makes perfect light welsh cakes, the ultimate Welsh recipe for St Davids Day
Welshcakes are a classic recipe here in Wales, but I think it is about time they broke out of Wales and spread across the world. Somewhere between a biscuit and a cake, I can guarantee you won't have tasted anything quite like them!

Recipe:
567g self-raising flour
227g margarine/butter
2 eggs
114g raisins (soaked in milk overnight)
284g caster sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg/mixed spice
Method:
1. Heat the bakestone or cast iron pan on medium-low heat.
2. Beat the butter & sugar together in a large bowl, add the flour, a pinch of salt, eggs & spice, continue to mix Ii like to use an electric hand mixer.)
3. Add the raisins, without the mix and continue to mix into a soft dough, adding the milk a little at a time if required.
4. Roll the dough out to around 1/4 inch in thickness and cut into circles (you can use a glass if you don't have a cookie-cutter).
5. Cook the cakes on the heated bakestone on both sides for 2-3 minutes, the Welsh cakes should have good colour on the outside but the inside should feel a little soft as they continue to cook once off the heat.
6. Roll in caster sugar, then serve and eat as soon as they are cool enough to consume.
Variations (leave out the raisins & use milk to form the dough):
Jam/Nutella Splits - whilst the cakes are warm, split with a knife, and fill with a blob of jam/Nutella.
Lemon Splits - add the zest of 1/2 a lemon to the dough, then split with a knife and fill with a blob of lemon curd (I like to use homemade).
Lemon & Ginger - add the zest of 1 lemon and one stem ginger ball, chopped, to the dough.
Chocolate chip - add 1 cup of chocolate chips to the dough
Sprinkle - add 1 cup of sprinkles to the dough
웰시 케익. Welsh Cakes recipe.
Welsh cakes also known as Griddle cakes or Bakestone cakes are a simple to make cake, eaten at tea time and are originally from Wales. (웰시 케익은 핫케이크 또는 구운 돌 이라고 불림) In today’s video I will show you how easy Welsh cakes are to make and what ingredients to use when making traditional welsh cakes. If you have never eaten them before they are similar to a scone and a biscuit and they just melt in your mouth. (입속에서 녹아 퍼지는) They are both delicious and flaky and the best part you don’t need an oven they can be cooked on your stove top. (오븐이 필요없이 가스버너로 조리 가능) They taste best when warm and served plain or you could put some butter on them. Unlike the scone they are not usually served with cream or jam. At Christmas I might change the ingredients and use cranberries with White chocolate chips, these also taste good with dark chocolate chips inside!
Ingredients
225g Flour ( sieve your flour)
100g Butter ( lard is used in traditional recipes)
30g sugar
A pinch of Salt
½ tsp of Baking powder
½ tsp of allspice ( Mace is traditionally used but you could also use cinnamon or nutmeg)
1egg & 2tbs Milk
60-70g Currants (raisins/sultanas)
