Taco Meat Recipe with Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix!
This homemade taco meat is so easy and so much better than fast food. Perfect for Taco Tuesday or whenever you’re craving tacos
► RECIPE INGREDIENTS AND NOTES
Ground Beef – If you can’t or don’t eat beef you can also use ground chicken, ground turkey, impossible burger or beyond meat.
Flour – We use flour to thicken the meat and help it absorb the liquid and seasonings.
Taco Seasoning – For this recipe we use our homemade taco seasoning but you could also use a packet of taco seasoning if you prefer.
Water – Once the meat is cooked we use water to help it create a sauce for the meat to keep it nice and juicy.
For the full ingredient amount and full instructions on how to make taco meat:
if you want to make bulk taco seasoning mix:
► STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Cook the taco meat: Our preferred way to cook taco meat is in a cast-iron skillet. Add the meat and then add in some flour and mash and brown the meat.
Season the taco meat: Once the meat is almost cooked, we’ll add in the seasonings and water.
Let the taco meat simmer: After adding all the seasonings, we let the meat simmer with the seasonings and continue to fully cook.
Taste and season if needed: When the meat is done, I’ll taste test to see if it needs more salt or other seasonings. Sometimes I’ll add more paprika to give it deep red and orange color.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe ~ Noreen's Kitchen
Greetings! Making tacos for dinner and thought I would share how I make a really easy and delicious taco seasoning. I like this blend better than the envelopes you can purchase in the store because I get to control the amount of salt, chemicals and the heat level to suit my family's tastes.
This is made using very common spices that you most likely have on your pantry shelf or spice rack. I always add a bit of corn meal to my blend because it helps to thicken the meat mixture. If you look on the envelope of commercial taco seasonings, you will see any number of things from modified corn starch, modified food starch, spices listed after spices and/or Autolyzed Yeast Extract. Both of the latter are nothing more than MSG. Nobody needs those. They are used to increase the flavor, prolong the shelf life and decrease the quality of the end product. You can make your own, know what is in it and be happy in that knowledge.
I hope you will try this taco seasoning blend and I hope you love it!
Happy eating!

The best ground beef taco recipe
Ground beef tacos can be a quick and easy weeknight meal that can be made in under 30 minutes. The only real cooking required is cooking the ground beef on the stovetop.
You can find the full recipe on my website:
Tacos are great for big gatherings, plus they’re kid-friendly! I usually put out an extra bowl with only chopped tomatoes (without the onions and cilantro) for the kids. They love building their own tacos, which means less work for me and an all around win.
