Stovetop Baked Beans | Vegan Beans Recipe – Delicious Comfort Food!
Stovetop Baked Beans! Today I'm sharing my vegan beans recipe. Baked beans are such a delicious comfort food! Baked beans on toast make a hearty and healthy breakfast!
Stovetop Baked Beans Recipe:
(Makes 4-6 servings)
Ingredients
1 pound (454 g, about 2 1/4 cups) Great Northern Beans, you can also use Navy Beans
2 tbsp (30 ml) olive oil
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
3/4 cup (270 ml) molasses
1/2 cup (95 g) brown sugar
3/4 cup (185 g) ketchup
2 tbsp (30 ml) apple cider vinegar
3/4 tsp (5 g) salt
2 tsp (15 ml) Frank's Red Hot sauce or the hot sauce of your choice
1.5 tbsp (20 ml) vegan Worcestershire sauce
Vegan Worcestershire Sauce Recipe:
1/2 cup (125 ml) apple cider vinegar
1.5 tbsp (20 g) brown sugar
1/2 tsp (5 g) Dijon mustard
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp teaspoon onion powder
A few dashes of black pepper
Directions
1. The night before, rinse and soak your beans. Cover them with water and place them in the fridge overnight.
2. The next day, rinse the beans, put them in a pot and cover them with fresh water. Bring to a boil then simmer for about 90 minutes.
3. While the beans are simmering, make the vegan Worcestershire Sauce.
4. Add all of the vegan Worcestershire ingredients to a pot and bring to a simmer over low heat. Once it simmers, take it off the heat and let it cool.
5. When the beans are done, drain them and set them aside.
6. In a large pot, heat the olive oil and sauté the onions for about 7 minutes on medium heat, stirring often.
7. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute, stir often to make sure the garlic doesn't burn.
8. Add all of the ingredients, except the beans to the pot. Stir and cook until the sauce heats up.
9. Add the drained beans and stir well. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
10. Cover and simmer for 30-45 minutes. If you like it thicker, simmer a little longer uncovered.

Simple Baked Beans: EASY RECIPE

Uncle Scott shows how to cook baked beans, using a sweet Southern recipe he learned from his Mom in Alabama.
RECIPE FOR BAKED BEANS
Ingredients
- 2 28 oz. cans Pork and Beans
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (add half first, stir, and adjust to taste)
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard (add half first, stir, and adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- black pepper to taste (1/2 teaspoon is a good start)
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- two slices bacon (optional)
- NO SALT: there is plenty in the ingredients already
1. In a mixing bowl, combine ketchup, onion, mustard powder, pepper, and half of the mustard and brown sugar. Combine well. Taste, and slowly add the rest of the yellow mustard and brown sugar to taste.
2. Allow mixture to sit 4 - 5 minutes, until the brown sugar is incorporated and not gritty.
3. In the meantime, open and drain the two can of pork and beans. Drained beans will produce thicker final baked beans, You can also use them undrained, if you want saucier beans. You can drain them over a bowl and reserve the liquid and add 1/4th cup at a time before baking. In the video, they are drained.
4. Combine beans with mixture and stir until well combined. Pour into a baking dish.
5. OPTIONAL: Add two pieces of bacon to the top, sliced and arranged however you want. You CAN add more, but the beans will get greasy. If you do so, remove the beans 15 minutes early and spoon the extra bacon grease from the top, then return to the oven to finish cooking.
6. Bake the beans in a pre-heated oven for one hour, 350F for most people, 375 F for those of us at higher altitude. As Mom says, they are done when the bacon is done. The bacon will not be crisp like fried bacon, but it will be cooked thoroughly.
7. Remove and allow to sit for at least 10 minutes.
8. Devour, or save for later. They are great warm or even cold, or even as a nice midnight snack.

Bourbon BBQ Baked Beans
INGREDIENTS
2 large 28oz can Bush’s Original Baked Beans or 4 small 15.5 oz cans
1/2 lb. bacon (8 slices), chopped 1/2 lb. 80/20 lean ground beef
1 large red onion, chopped
2 tbsp garlic paste
2 tsp smoked paprika
1/4 heaping cup of ketchup
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp liquid smoke
2 tsp Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning
1 tsp hot sauce
1 tsp mustard
3 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 cup bourbon
