I've never eaten a Manwich Sloppy Joe in my life.
I am no stranger to sloppy joe sandwiches but I've never had a #Manwich #SloppyJoe in my life. Today that changes. Because these things have been around since the 60's.

Sloppy Josés: Not your Average Joe
The title says it all. These Sloppy Josés are Not your Average Joe, errr rather, they're not your average Sloppy Joes. Truth be told, I love Sloppy Joes, but every once in a while I think it's fun to mix things up. So this is a Mexican style Sloppy Joe I like to call Sloppy Josés. They're made with Hatch green chile and salsa...and they're cooked in beer. (The alcohol cooks out, but the beer makes the meat more tender and deepens the flavor.) Read on for the recipe.
Sloppy Josés
1 1/2 lean ground beef
1 cup cooked pinto beans (drain liquid)
1 medium onion, chopped finely
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup Hatch green chile (roasted, peeled, & chopped)
1 tsp. red chile powder
salt to taste
1 cup of medium salsa
1 cup of beer
hamburger buns
Brown hamburger meat in large skillet. Remove any rendered fat. Add in chopped onion and sauté a few minutes. Then add in minced garlic, the Hatch green chile, the chile powder, salt and beans. Mix to combine. Pour in beer and stir well. Let it come to a boil, cover with a lid and lower burner. Let it simmer 15 minutees. (If meat appears to be drying out, add in more beer.) Spoon meat mixture into hamburger buns and enjoy while hot.
