Microwave Oven 2 minutes. 2. Crumble meat into hot oil and heat, uncovered, 7 1/2 minutes, breaking up meat particles frequently. Cook until all red
has gone out of meat. 3. Drain off excess fat. 4. Stir in salt, pepper, chili powder and tomato sauce. 5. Heat, uncovered, in Microwave Oven 4 minutes or until heated through. 6. Add frankfurter rounds and heat, uncovered, an additional 4 minutes or until frankfurters are hot. 7. Spoon Sloppy Joe mixture over hamburger buns. (Buns may be toasted conventionally, if desired.)

Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 red bell pepper (diced)
½ medium onion (diced)
2 teaspoons minced garlic
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¾ cup ketchup
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 pinch red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons water
Instructions
Cook ground beef, onion and pepper in a large skillet over medium high heat until meat is browned and onion is translucent.
Stir in garlic, salt, chili powder and pepper and cook 1 minute.
Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, tomato paste, mustard and red pepper flakes and stir well. Add water to thin sauce if desired.
Bring to a simmer over medium high heat and then reduce to medium low. Simmer until vegetables are tender and sauce has thickened slightly.
Serve over buns.

Amazing Homemade Sloppy Joe Recipe
If you’re like me, you grew up eating sloppy joe sandwiches as it’s a great simple weeknight meal for the family. Instead of popping a can of who knows what’s in there, learn how to make it from scratch. It’s way more delicious and way easier than you’re thinking.
Ingredients for this recipe:
For the Sloppy Joe:
• 2 tablespoons canola oil
• 2 each seeded and small diced red and yellow bell peppers
• 6 finely minced cloves of garlic
• 4 pounds ground beef
• 2 cups tomato puree
• 3 tablespoons mustard
• ¼ heaping cup light brown sugar
• 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
• 4 tablespoons distilled vinegar
• 2 tablespoons chili powder
• Sea salt and cracked pepper
• 10 buns
For the Toppings:
• caramelized onions
• pickles
• Colby jack cheese
• pepper jack cheese
Serves 10
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes
Procedures:
1. Add oil to a large pan over low to medium heat and sweat the peppers and garlic for 5-7 minutes stirring frequently.
2. Add in the ground beef, turn the heat to medium and cook until all of the pink is gone, about 7-9 minutes.
3. Next, pour in the tomato puree, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and chili powder and simmer over low heat for 25-30 minutes.
4. Finish by stirring in salt and pepper and serve on buns with optional toppings.
CHEF NOTES:
• To Reheat it: Simply add the desired amount of sloppy joe into a saucepan and cook over low heat until hot. You can also heat it in the microwave until hot.
• To Store it: Keep covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
• To Freeze it: Keep it covered in the freezer for up to 2 months. Thaw for 1 day in the refrigerator before reheating it.
• This recipe makes a lot of sloppy joes so please scale down or up to fit your needs.
