How To make Pat's Favorite White Cake
2 1/2 c Flour
2 c Sugar
1 ts Baking powder
1 1/3 c Buttermilk or sour milk
1/2 c Shortening, butter or..
..margarine 1 ts Vanilla
4 Egg whites
Preheat oven to 350F. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and 1/8 tsp. salt. Add buttermilk, shortening (butter or margarine) and vanilla. Beat on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl. Beat on medium to high speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. ADd egg whites and beat for 2 minutes more, scraping bowl. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 x 1/5 inch round baking pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes. Loosen sides and remove from pans. Serves 12. NOTE: One day my husband Pat wanted a marble cake. So, I improvised. To make a marble cake from this recipe, simply reserve one third of the cake batter before putting in the cake pans. Then, melt one square unsweetened or semi-sweet chocolate either over boiling water or in the microwave oven. Stir to blend. Add to the cake mixture and mix well. Put one half of the chocolate batter in each cake pan in dollops, and swirl carefully, so as not to mix the white batter with the chocolate. What you are trying to achieve in a marble effect. Bake as directed. (BTW, this is GREAT!!)

For this Butter Marble Cake Recipe, I used good quality butter as it gives a good taste and flavor for Butter Marble Cake. The butter must be soft enough at room temperature before creaming it with the sugar. I used salted butter for this marble cake recipe, and the cake would not be salty even though I used salted butter as the amount of salt in 250 gm of butter is very less. You may use unsalted butter too. Please watch the video till the end to get the tips and explanation on how to make a marble butter cake.
1 Cup = 250 ml
TSP = Teaspoon
TBSP = Tablespoon
Untuk resepi Kek Butter Marble ini, saya menggunakan mentega yang berkualiti (salted butter) 250 gram, kerana ia memberi rasa yang lebih sedap untuk Kek Butter Marble. Kalau nak ganti marjerin pun ok je..jadilah kek marble. Mentega mesti cukup lembut pada suhu bilik sebelum pukul dengan gula. Buttercream Recipe:
450g Unsalted Butter (2 cups)
225g Powdered sugar (2 cups) - *please read tips on sugar amount
60ml Hot Water (1/4 Cup)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract

TIPS:
1. Do not add too much purple, you really need a tiny bit. Adding too much will make the buttercream grey.
2. This method works with any buttercream recipe.
3. The purple gel technique work very well if you don't have a stand mixer and cannot mix for 10 minutes.
4. The amount of sugar can be increased according to taste, the important thing is to have the right glaze consistency.
