How to Make Easy Homemade Eggnog [ Recipe by Lounging with Lenny ]
How to make easy homemade eggnog recipe? Holiday season is here and its perfect time for homemade eggnog. It’s called eggnog because it’s made from eggs. Eggnog is reach and creamy holiday cocktail. Perfect winter drink, so delicious that will please all your guests, friends and family.
This eggnog recipe is just lightly spiked, so if you like you can add more rum or bourbon, whatever you like more or keep the kid friendly version and skip this step at all.
Ingredients:
8 medium eggs (8 egg yolks, 3/4 cup egg whites)
1 cup sugar
3 cups milk
1.5 cup heavy cream
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp ground ginger powder
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground clove
1/4 cup silver rum
1 tsp sugar (for merengue)

Noggin Around The World - 3 Eggnog Traditions
Most Historians believe that Eggnog is the 18th century relative of a medieval drink called “Posset” which was a mixture of curdled hot milk mixed with Ale or Wine and Spices. By the 13th century Monks were known to drink a posset made of Milk, Eggs and Figs. In those times Milk, Eggs and Sherry were food enjoyed by the wealthy so the drink was usually drank to toast prosperity and health on special occasions. It was at some pointbrought over to America from Britain and enjoyed some popularity but soon fell away due to the heavy taxation of Wine on the colonies. The Rum being made in the Carribean was a much cheaper alternative and there was a LOT of it. So the colonists began to make their own style of Posset supplanting the Wine and Ale with Rum and of course dairy products which were in abundance, and thus Eggnog was born.
It’s unknown how or when Eggnog spread into other cultures but it is true that there is an Eggnog Style drink present in just about every South and Central American country. Each one trades key ingredients for those that are locally sourced and you get an end result that is so different from one another, yet familiar.

It's the time of year for holiday parties which means it's the time of year for egg nog. While I prefer my home made nog (recipe below), I thought it would be helpful to try out as many store bought egg nogs as I could find so I can let you know which ones are worth buying.
Greg's Nog:
In shaker
.5 oz -or- 15 ml Simple Syrup
.5 oz -or- 15 ml Luxardo Maraschino
2 oz -or- 60 ml Bourbon - Used Baker's
1 whole egg
Dry shake
Add ice and shake again
Strain into glass
Top with whole milk (or you milk of choice)
Grate some nutmeg and orange zest
