These chocolate chip cookie bars have a crunchy outer edge and a soft and chewy center. They are the perfect treat for picnics and potlucks! They can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days, but mine never last that long.
Chocolate chip cookie bars recipe:
Ingredients:
1+1/2 cup all purpose flour 195g
1/2 teaspoon baking soda 3g
1/2 teaspoon baking powder 2.5g
1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt 2.5g
1/2 cup salted butter (softened to room temperature) 113g
1/3 cup granulated white sugar 65g
1/2 cup packed brown sugar 90g
1 large egg (room temperature) 50-55g
1 teaspoon vanilla extract 4g
3/4 cup *+2 tablespoons* chocolate chips (mini or regular) 135g
* reserve 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips for the top of the cookies bars!
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350F/175C. In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, sea salt and baking powder. Whisk until combined and set aside. In a large bowl combine butter and both sugars. Using a hand mixer, (or stand mixer if you prefer) cream on medium low for 2-3 minutes or until everything is well combined. Add in the egg and vanilla and continue mixing on medium low for another 1-2 minutes. The mixture will be airy and glossy. Add the dry mixture and mix until just combined. You don't want to overmix the cookie dough! Add the 3/4 cup of chocolate chips and using a spatula mix until just combined. Press the dough evenly into a parchment lined 8 inch by 8 inch pan. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Bake 18-24 minutes, or until the cookie bars are an even golden brown. Allow them to cool in the pan for 20 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to finish cooling. I like to serve these chocolate chip cookie bars while they're still a little bit barm, but don't cut them when they're hot. They need to cool in order to set!

20210306 Recipe Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
In this video (in my new mediocre kitchen), I make Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies. I didn't have any real issues as the recipe is pretty easy, even for a novice like me.
These Bars are Easier than Chocolate Chip Cookies
Skip the scooping and make your chocolate chip cookies in a pan instead! These buttery, soft and chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars require no mixer, no chilling, and no fuss.
Recipe:
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter melted and then cooled for at least 5 minutes (226g)
1 cup light brown sugar tightly packed (200g)
¾ cup sugar (150g)
2 large eggs + 1 egg yolk room temperature preferred
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour (285g) (please note that in the video I accidentally said 2 ½ cups flour, that is incorrect and you only need 2 ¼ cups as written here)
2 teaspoons cornstarch (cornflour in the UK)
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (340g)

Notes
