How To make Greek Burgers
1 lb Extra-lean ground beef;
1 cl Garlic; minced
2 tb Fresh lemon juice;
1 ts Dried oregano leaves;
1/4 ts Ground cumin;
1/4 ts Ground pepper;
1 md Size plum tomato;
2 tb Flat-leaf parsley; minced
4 6" whole-wheat pita pocket;
-breads; Romaine lettuce lea; 1 sm Red onion;
Mix ground beef, garlic; lemon juice, oregano leaves; cumin, pepper, plum tomato, and parsley. Form into 4 patties about 3/4" thick. Grill or broil, 4" from souce of heat, ofr 3 minutes, for 3 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Cut the top thrie off each of four 6" whole-wheat pita pocket breads. Turn the cut-off piece round side down; tuck inside to pocket bread to reinforce bottom. Place a grilled burger in each pocket bread along with a romaine lettuce leaf and paper-thin slices from 1 sm red onion. Pass 1/4 cup Cilantro Chutney (page 218) to spoon into burgers. Note: These hamburgers could be made with lean ground lamb. Greek Style Gyro Burgers Recipe ~ Noreen's Kitchen
Greetings! Today is a very exciting day! Not only are we making Gyro Burgers, we are also doing a collaboration with another great channel! Therecipeboxtv has some wonderful videos that you are going to love. One of my favorite ethnic foods is the Greek Gyro. Even if it is not a traditional Greek delicacy it has come to be recognized as one of the most popular Greek sandwiches ever. Who doesn't love a warm pita filled with savory, sliced meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and smothered in Tzatziki sauce? Makes my mouth water just thinking about it! Since It is somewhat hard to replicate the traditional thin sliced meat that is usually used in a Gyro at home. Not impossible, but not convenient either! I thought it might be nice to try making a burger that would emulate the flavors of a traditional Gyro sandwich.
I combined equal amounts of ground beef, ground pork and ground lamb in my burgers and gave them a boost with a bunch of great seasonings and herbs that would be found in your favorite Greek restaurant. You could serve this on a pita or like I did no a really nice Kaiser roll, topped with lettuce, tomato, sliced red onion and some cool and savory Tzatziki sauce to round the whole thing out!

How to Make Bifteki (Greek Burger Patties) | Rachael Ray

Biftekia - Greek Style Burgers
Biftekia is greek grund meat patties (beef, lamb or pork).
They have delicious Greek flavors.

Tzatziki recipe:
ingredients:
2 lbs (900 gram) Graound beef ( you can use pork or lamb )
One Onion Finely chopped
Handful of Parsley Finely chopped
One Clove of garlic Finely chopped
Dried Mint 2 tsp
Dried Oregano 2 tsp
Olive oil 3 tbsp
Salt 1,5 tsp
Bread crumbs 1/4 cup (0,6 dl)
Black pepper 1/2 tsp
One egg
Marinade Time: 2 Hours
Cooking Time: 16 min
