DOUGHNUTS:
4 1/2 c FLOUR
2 pk YEAST
1/4 c SUGAR
1 t SALT
1/2 c WATER
1/2 c EVAPORATED MILK
1/4 c SHORTENING
1 ea EGG
FROSTING:
1/2 c brOWN SUGAR
1/4 c BUTTER
1/4 ts MAPLE FLAVORING
2 tb HALF & HALF
1 c POWDERED SUGAR
IN A LARGE MIXER BOWL COMBINE 1 1/2 CUPS FLOUR, YEAST, SUGAR, SALT AND NUTMEG. MIX WELL. IN A SAUCE PAN, HEAT WATER, MILK AND SHORTENING TO 120 DEG F. ADD TO FLOUR MIXTURE. ADD EGG. BLEND AT SLOW SPEED UNTIL WELL MIXED. BEAT 3 MINUTES AT MEDIUM SPEED. BY HAND GRADUALLY ADD REMAINING FLOUR TO MAKE SOFT DOUGH. KNEAD ON FLOURED SURFACE UNTIL SMOOTH AND ELASTIC. PLACE IN GREASED BOWL AND COVER AND LET RISE FOR 1 HOUR OR UNTIL DOUBLED IN SIZE. PUNCH DOWN DOUGH AND DIVIDE INTO TWO PARTS. ROLL DOUGH INTO A 12 X 6 INCH RECTANGLE. CUT RECTANGLE INTO 1" StrIPS. COVER AND LET RISE UNTIL DOUBLED IN SIZE. HEAT OIL TO 425 DEG F. FRY EACH StrIP UNTIL GOLDEN brOWN. DRAIN ON PAPER TOWELING. COAT WITH FROSTING. PREPARE FROSTING: IN A SMALL SAUCE PAN CONBINE BUTTER AND brOWN SUGAR. BOIL FOR 2 MINUTES, STIRRING CONSTANTLY. ADD MAPLE FLAVORING AND HALF & HALF. STIR IN ENOUGH POWDERED SUGAR TO MAKE SPREADABLE FROSTING.

New Zealand Long Johns Cream Donuts Recipe
This recipe was a viewers request and hope I made it to his/her expectation. Thank you my wonderful viewers and subscribers for viewing my videos and for the support always.
Ingredients
• 2 tbs sugar
• 1 1/2 cups of warm milk
• 2 tsp of active dry yeast
• 1 egg
• 3 cups of all purpose flour
• 1/4 tsp salt
• 2 tbs butter
• 2 cups of thickened cream
• 2 tbs icing sugar
• 1-2 tsp vanilla extract
• 1/4 cup of strawberry jam
• 1 tbs icing sugar to dust the top for the donuts
Steps
1. Mix 2 tbs sugar with warm milk and stir
2. Add 1 egg and 2 tsp yeast and keep stirring
3. Let it sit for few minutes to activate the yeast
4. Mix 3 cups of all purpose flour and salt
5. Once the yeast is ready transfer into the flour mix and use the dough hook attachment for stand mix to mix the dough for up to 8 minutes
6. Towards the end of the 8 minutes, add tbs of soft butter and keep mixing flour for few more minutes
7. The dough should be smooth and elastic after the 8 minutes and adding butter.
8. Transfer to an oiled bowl and let it sit in a warm area for 1-2 hours to rise
9. Once it's double in size punch it down and divide into 8 pieces
10. Roll out to shape long donuts, cover and let it rise again for another hour.
11. Heat up oil (vegetable oil | 4 cups) and start frying them on medium low heat, turning them around after 2-3 minutes on both sides
12. Once's cooked on both sides, transfer them on to a rack and cool and them down completely for about 10 minutes
13. Cut the middle and spread whipped cream and jam.
14. Sprinkle and dust with icing sugar on top and serve

- 1/3 cup (74g) sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 egg yolk
