Slow Cooker Swiss Steak
Y'all, it is so good to have mom back after her fall on the snow and Ice. Mainly because she is so happy to be back doing recipes for y'all. This was one of my favorite dishes that she made when I was growing up. I could never get enough of her Swiss Steak. She always made it in the slow cooker and it was amazing. To this day it is still my favorite. Let me know what you think about this version and y'all enjoy.

1 1/2 quarts tomato sauce (or 4 cans)
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt (if using homemade sauce)
1 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 onions sliced about 1/2 inch
2 tablespoons cooking oil
4 cubed steaks
1/2 cup flour
salt/pepper
3 cloves garlic minced
Mix your tomato sauce with he oregano, garlic powder and then salt and pepper to taste.
Pour 3/4 of the sauce in the bottom of your slow cooker.
Heat the cooking oil in your large skillet over medium high heat.
Salt and pepper the cubed steaks then dredge them in the flour.
Place in skillet and brown both sides. Don't fully cook.
While steaks are browning, placed sliced onions in the slow cooker over the sauce.
Add the steaks and mince the garlic over top and cover with remaining sauce.
Place lid on slow cooker and cook 6-7 hours on low or 3-4 hours on high.
