How to Can Cherry Jelly Canning Recipe [Canning for Beginners]
Living in Washington State we have access to an abundance of cherries. One of the lovely items we like to make from this fabulous fruit is cherry jelly. I really like to make cherry jelly in the winter because all it takes is cherry juice. So I juice the cherries in the summer and make cherry butter out of the pulp and save the juice to make cherry jelly during the winter months when my time is not quite so busy. It has a beautiful jewel-type quality to it that makes it a wonderful gift to give with a loaf of bread or a fabulous treat to add to your toast in the morning. Today Emmaline and I are going to teach you how to make cherry jelly. The recipe is at the bottom and we hope you find this tutorial helpful.

To Marie and Emmaline, the lost arts are the useful knowledge related to simple living, country living, modern homesteading, and old-fashioned traditions that are not readily being passed down from generation to generation as they used to. It includes sustainable living skills like gardening, canning basics, and homesteading skills. Some of Marie and Emmaline's favorite hard skills include boiling water bath canning, pressure canning, steam juicing, dehydrating, and fermenting our own food to add to our pantries and food storage.
What Are the Lost Arts? Lost arts are the basic skills for self-sufficient living that have been forgotten or replaced by modern technology. --- WISDOM PRESERVED
Marie and Emmaline’s friendship was almost instantaneous. Within 20 minutes of their first meeting, they were discussing their shared passion for the lost arts. Their collective enthusiasm has created this worthy endeavor, and their individual strengths have made a project of this magnitude possible.

Mom’s Easy 3 Ingredient Whole Cherry Jam
Cherry jam and sour cherry jam is one of our favourite jams and I absolutely love making it with my mom. The process is incredibly easy, it just requires a little more patience. It will absolutely be worth it because you can make it in bulk and store your jam in the pantry which will last you all year. In this video I’m showing you how to make three 250 mL jars but feel free to double, triple, quadruple the recipe if you wish. In Bulgaria we absolutely love making fruit jams and do it as a family every single year. Feel free to use grapes instead of cherries as whole grape jam is just as delicious too. You will need:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
900 grams cherries — 6 cups approx
500 grams sugar — 2 cups
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Please note: Most recipes typically call for more sugar than what I have here above but feel free to adjust. Please sterilize your jars by boiling them for 5 min on a slow boil on a rack in a pot with water or use paper towel or a linen towel on the bottom of the pot to protect them before placing them in. If you don’t want to preserve these for months just skip this canning step as this jam will last you for a few weeks in the fridge.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wash and take the stems off the cherries. Use a cherry pitter or take out the pits yourself. Add them to a big pot with the sugar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and stir the whole time on medium-high for 5 minutes. Take it off the heat and let them cool completely. Once cooled repeat this same step again and cool them again. When the cherries are cooled for the second time add the pot back on the stove and bring them to a boil again as you stir for the last time for another 5 minutes. Cooking time for this jam is 15 minutes total ( 5 , 5 , and 5 min as you cool the pot the first two times fully in between) The reason we separate the cooking time in 3 parts is to keep them in tact and whole. Now that you boiled the cherries for the third time on the stove you can skim some of the foam and fill your sterilized jars to the top leaving 1/4 inch room. Wipe the rim clean with a damp paper towel, lid on and flip them upside down. Cover, rest overnight. Following day store them away and enjoy.

Canning Cherry Jam with Forjars Lids (2022)
I was contacted by the Forjars Canning Supply company to feature & review their lids on my channel. I will admit, I'm a bit skeptical but I'm willing to give them a try. Any reviews I do, will be my honest opinion.
The company sent me free lids to review. My first opinion of them, is they are made as well as the name brand lids. NO FAILS and less Siphoning! Epic Score for me!
I needed to make Cherry jam for a recipe Im making as a part of August Jamboree. Make sure to comment on all the August Jamboree videos for your chance at a gift card for Forjar lids.
