Recipe by: Governor James B. Hunt Jr., North Carolina Simmer Sauce for 3 minutes, then pour over warm cake. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. JO's note: are you supposed to cook the cake and then serve it with the prepared sauce over it, or prepare the sauce and pour over cake batter and THEN bake? I am leaving the recipe as I found it since you might be able to figure it out- and it does sound good!JM. Governor James B. Hunt Jr., North Carolina -----

This is the BEST Apple Cake Recipe!
This is an apple cake recipe that was a holiday favorite when growing up that was often served as part of my families breakfast feast. This cake is layered with a ring of apples in the center covered with cinnamon sugar. It is then baked to give a caramelized apple top.
Check me out on Instagram:
Recipe:
4 Apples
3 Cups of flour
2 Cups of Sugar
1 Cup vegetable oil
2 tsp baking powder
1 orange freshly squeeze for about 1/4 orange juice
Topping:
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Ideally baked in a Bundt cake pan or a springform pan (as used in this video)
Bake for 90 minutes at 350°F or until a knife comes out clean. I found with oven that it was not done at that time so I covered with tinfoil turned off the oven and let sit in the over for 1 hours and it was perfectly baked. The apples on top were caramelized and the cake was cook completely through, did not burn and kept the moisture inside the cake. As the cake cools it will contract and release naturally from the cake pan (it is best left overnight to cool but kept covered so it does not dry out). Then slice yourself a large piece for breakfast or anytime of the day.
Enjoy!
Super Easy Jewish Apple Cake recipe
On this episode of Cooking with Tovia, Chef Tovia demonstrates how to make Jewish Apple Cake. The ingredients aren't difficult at all to find and if you follow this recipe closely you won't go wrong.
I also suggest that you use regular eating apples instead of cooking apples as eating apples doesn't become mushy when cooked.
Please be sure to watch the entire video for all tips and hints you may miss out on.
