FEAR THE LOAF! Carnation Evaporated Milk Meatloaf Recipe from 1942
I tried making Carnation Beef Loaf from 1942. FEAR THE LOAF! Sharing :)
Mix ingredients well. Turn into greased pan. Shape into loaf. Bake 30 to 45 minutes in moderate oven (350 F.). Serves 6. (Veal or lamb may be used in combination.)
Side Sauce 1-1/2 cups Great Value spaghetti sauce 1/3 cup green pepper 1/3 cup onion 1 tsp brown sugar 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
Karo Syrup Meatloaf Glaze (1967) 1 cup ketchup 1/4 cup dark Karo Syrup

Awesome Meatless Meatloaf
This meatless meatloaf defies description except to say it brought me back to my meatloaf-loving days. I will be making this . . . 2 1/2 cups vegetable broth 3/4 cup cooked millet 1 cup onions 2 teaspoons dried or 1 tablespoon fresh sage 2 teaspoons dried or 1 tablespoon fresh thyme 4 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg 1/4 cup hot water 2 tablespoons Miso paste 3/4 cup ketchup separated - 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup 1/2 cup Nutritional yeast
Bring broth to boil. Add millet. Reduce heat to simmer. Cook until liquid is absorbed.
Saute onions and garlic. Add herbs and spices.
Take 1/4 cup hot water and blend with miso. Add to sauce pan. Add 1/2 cup ketchup and Nutritional yeast.
Add millet.
Lots of fresh parsley. About a cup.
Pour into loaf pan. Bake 350º for about 30 minutes.
