How To make Brandy Wafers(Scottish)
2 oz Golden syrup
1/4 c Butter
1/2 c Flour
2 oz Caster sugar
1/2 ts Brandy
1/2 ts Ground ginger
Set oven to 450F or Mark 8. Grease baking sheets. Melt the butter, syrup and sugar together in a saucepan over a very gentle heat. Stir in the flour, ground ginger and the brandy. Beat together for about 5 minutes. Drop small teaspoonsful on to the baking sheet, spaced well apart. Bake for 5 minutes until pale golden brown in colour. Roll immediately, while still hot, around the greased handle of a large wooden spoon. Set aside to cool. These are delicious filled with freshly whipped cream. >From the booklet Scottish Teatime Recipes Typed By Ray Watson -----

Randy Makes Ashtray Candy for April Fools Day
It's gross, it's silly, it's fun, but most importantly...it's foolish! Also a great treat to bring to a Halloween Party.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup of white chocolate or melting wafers
½ Tbsp of vegetable oil or some other liquid fat.
Something the diameter of a cigarette.
¼ cup of red melting wafers
1/8 cup of granulated sugar
A few drops of black food coloring
SUPPLIES
A couple of microwave-safe bowls
A cutting board
Some parchment, foil, or wax paper
And ideally, something that looks like an ashtray
DIRECTIONS
Melt the white chocolate or wafers
Dip the breadsticks into the chocolate, leaving about an inch uncoated to represent the filter.
It’s easiest to use a tall, slender container for this. I’m using an adjustable measuring cup, but a cut down water bottle would work as well.
Set them aside until the chocolate has set.
Make the ash by putting the sugar in a shallow bowl, adding a few drops of black food coloring, and giving it a good mix.
Melt the red wafers and dip just the very end of the chocolate-coated breadstick.
Immediately dip it into the sugar, so it looks like there is ash on the ember. You can sprinkle a little around the edges, too.
Once everything has set, pour the sugar ashes into your ashtray and add the breadstick cigarettes.
