I have a quiz for you: What can you make with only 3 ingredients which tastes absolutely amazing and you can offer it as a special treat on weddings, baptisms, anniversaries or any kind of celebration you would like? You can make a special treat called Hamalia!
Hamalia are an artisanal, traditional sweet from Skopelos island, similar to Amigdalota, that they prepare there for special events!
This is a 2-version recipe where I initially prepared the traditional Hamalia but also experimented with making a softer dough by using more rose water. The preparation is exactly the same, the taste is also the same but the resulted texture is a bit different.
So let me show you how to make this wonderful treat! You will certainly enjoy them, I promise you!
Suitable for vegans, fasting, gluten & lactose-free.
INGREDIENTS:
900 gr/ 2 lb / 9 cups White Almonds (good quality)
400 gr / 1 lb / 2.5 cups Icing Sugar plus
Approx: 160 gr / 5.6 oz / 1 cup Icing Sugar for decorating
200-250 ml / less than 1 cup Rose water and some extra Rose water in a spray to sprinkle on top

Έχω ένα κουίζ για εσάς: Τι μπορείτε να φτιάξετε με μόνο 3 υλικά, εκπληκτική γεύση και που μπορείτε να τα προσφέρετε σαν γλυκάκια σε γάμους, βαπτίσεις, επετείους ή σε όποια άλλη γιορτή θα θέλατε; Τα πανέμορφα Χαμαλιά! Τα Χαμαλιά είναι ένα παραδοσιακό γλυκό από τη Σκόπελο, παρόμοιο με τα Αμυγδαλωτά, που ετοιμάζουν στο νησί για σπέσιαλ εκδηλώσεις!
Αυτή είναι μια συνταγή με 2 παραλλαγές, όπου ετοίμασα αρχικά τα παραδοσιακά Χαμαλιά αλλά επίσης πειραματίστηκα κάνοντας μια πιο μαλακή ζύμη, χρησιμοποιώντας λίγο περισσότερο ροδόνερο. Η προετοιμασία και η γεύση είναι ακριβώς ίδια, αλλά η υφή τους είναι λίγο διαφορετική.
Επιτρέψτε μου λοιπόν να σας δείξω πώς να φτιάξετε αυτά τα υπέροχα γλυκάκια! Σίγουρα θα τα απολαύσετε, σας το υπόσχομαι!
Κατάλληλο για βίγκαν, νηστεία, και διατροφή χωρίς γλουτένη και λακτόζη.
ΥΛΙΚΑ:
900 γρ. / 2 lb / 9 φλ. Λευκά Αμύγδαλα (καλής ποιότητας)
400 γρ. / 1 lb / 2,5 φλ. Ζάχαρη Άχνη και
Περίπου 160 γρ. / 5,6 oz / 1 φλ. Ζάχαρη Άχνη για πασπάλισμα
200-250 ml / λιγότερο από 1 φλιτζάνι Ροδόνερο και επιπλέον λίγο ακόμα Ροδόνερο σε σπρέι για να ραντίσετε από πάνω
Almonds chewy Cookies Greek Macaroons
They may be called rozethes, amigdalota or ergolavoi in some regions.
Is a traditional Sweet treat in Greek islands of the Aegean, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, but also in other parts of the country.
They can be shaped like balls, pears or other shapes, usually small enough.
Also the taste change from island to island in Kerkyra they use tangerine zest, in Rodo they use cinnamon it depends on your taste preferences.
Greek Macaroons
Almonds chewy Cookies
200gr almond flour
1 eggs white beat in a light meringue
1/4 cup rose water
1 Tsp tangerine zest
100gr sugar
1 Tbsp Almond milk
1 egg white beaten
70gr sliced almonds
Combine the almond flour with the sugar and the tangerine zest in a large bowl.
Add the meringue and knead the mixture well. It should be like bread dough.
Beaten the egg white with the almond milk.
We shape our dough into an oval shape and we put each of them first in the egg white and then in the sliced almonds.
** You can skip this step just bake them let it cool and sprinkle them with rose water and roll in icing sugar to coat.
Preheated oven at 180 C bake for 10-15 min until they become golden.
