How To make Advent Cookies
Ingredients
1
cup
molasses, teacup or black treacle
7
ounces
brown sugar, light
9
tablespoons
cocoa powder
10
ounces
butter, or margarine, softened
1
pinch
cinnamon
1
teaspoon
vanilla
1
pound
flour, all-purpose, (approximately)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400 degree F.
Mix all of the ingredients together, except for the flour.
Add the flour slowly to the rest of the mixture until it reaches the right consistency to roll out. The dough should be quite soft. (You may find it easier to knead it with your hands.)
Roll out on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/4 inch and cut into decorative shapes with small cookie cutters, a sharp knife or the rim of a glass.
Place on a greased baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 8 minutes. Remove from the oven while they are still soft and cool on a rack, then pack into crocks or jars.
The authors note that the Pennsylvania Dutch settlers made these at Thanksgiving and stored them in a stoneware crock until Christmas. The cookies can be made at any time, but allowed to age for 4-6 weeks.
They can be used as a substitute for graham crackers for a pie crust.

Today I am sharing a picture for Angel Eyes Cookies (Engelsaugen in German). My mom and I made those cookies every single year for Christmas and they were always a big hit with the family and all the visitors we had at our house during Christmas time. This is a well-known cookie all throughout Germany. If you decide to make it, I hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Cookie Advent Calendar Recipe #1: Peppermint Mocha Cookies
I'm baking my way through the Holiday Cookie Advent Calendar from Uncommongoods.com! The first four days I opened the doors to find: cocoa, espresso powder, crushed peppermint, and white chocolate chips. And now on Day 5 I get to make my first set of cookies! Head over to my Instagram (@Just_Jenn_Baking) for the recipe!
Vanillekipferl (Crescent-Shaped Vanilla Cookies) - Recipe
Popular baked items, often served in Vienna during Advent and over the Christmas holidays, are Vanilla Kipferl - small, crescent-shaped Vanilla cookies. And here's how to bake them:
#Vienna #VienneseRecipe #Vanillekipferl #CrescentShapedVanillaCookies #Christmas #baking
Ingredients:
300 g flour (fine)
80 g icing sugar
pinch of salt
80 g walnuts (peeled and ground)
2 egg yolks
200 g butter (cold)
pulp from 1 vanilla pod
100 g icing sugar for tossing
flour for the work surface
Preparation:
Combine the flour, icing sugar, ground walnuts and salt, and heap onto a baking tray. Make a shallow hole in the middle and beat in the egg yolk. Place small pieces of butter around the edge of the flour. Cut them into smaller pieces and then, with cold hands, quickly knead the mass into a smooth dough. (It is quicker and easier to use a blender). Shape the dough into a ball and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 170° C. Form small, finger-width rolls out of the dough and cut pieces about 1 cm thick from them. Roll into small balls and, on a lightly-floured surface, shape into crescents. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 12-15 minutes.
Loosen the crescents from the paper with a spatula, allow to cool, then toss them in the vanilla icing sugar. Allow to cool on a cake grid and then put into a cookie tin.

Cookie Advent Calendar
Hey guys, today I wanna show you a last minute idea for this cute Cookie Advent Calendar. I made this for my boyfriend. Try to choose a cookie recipe that will stay delicious through the month. Too much butter might be bad. I am not too good at decorating so I am petty sure you can do way better. I bought these pens in the super market. You can also make your own using powdered sugar, lemon juice and food coloring. I used baking paper in the tin so the cookies won't stick together. I started with the last ones and stacked them up till the first. I think heart shapes are best. :) Enjoy!
Stay tuned for Christmas recipes everyday in December!
